Unexpected connections

There were a lot of characters in this book which sometimes makes it difficult to discern who is talking. The narrator is overall good but doesn't do the best at separating between those characters. The story itself was good. There were several surprises. I would classify this as a cozy mystery. I appreciate that this is a good, clean story, that does have some lighthearted characters in a post-war village. I will look for more from this author.

Easy listen on a quiet day.

Wonderful performance by narrator. This book comes to life through his abundant skill. Everything you could want in a relaxing listen… quirky characters, surprises, and a sweet little romance. Sit back and enjoy!

Just TOO Fun!!!!

I do not know when I have enjoyed a book more. I had never heard of this author and had come across her while attempting to find something new that was decent to listen to. Sadly, 99% of what’s on Audible these days is either related to witchcraft, gratuitous sex, extreme violence, filthy language, or just plain stupidity. Therefore, this book was so totally refreshing. True, there was a murder victim, but this played such a small part of the story, and there was zero description in far as how it was accomplished. Just fun, interesting dialogue and characters, and the hero and heroine… both of whom are unlikely subjects.. both get their HEA. And James Langton: What can I say? He is just the best, having thoroughly enjoyed all of his Charles Finch novels. He does a superb job of all the voices in this book, but especially of Mark and Amy. Hope to read the only other book by this author on Audible, sorry to say.

Wish there were more books by this author. Light mystery with a touch of romance.
