Publisher's summary

Cora faces death, abandonment, bullying, family struggles, attempted rape, loss of a child, and finally, redemption.

Cora’s Story follows the adventurous life of Cora Crawford. Born in the early 1900s and raised on a small mountain in rural Eastern Tennessee, Cora shares the tale of her young life with the listener. This historical, inspirational coming-of-age fiction will entertain and encourage as Cora finds her way to a life filled with God’s grace.

An excerpt of Cora’s Story:

I listened as the family talked as they settled down for the night. I still lay on the bed, too frightened to relax and go to sleep. Just before dawn, I finally dozed.

The small table was not any match for his shove, and the door was opened before I could move. He was on top of me before I was fully awake. When he put his hand over my mouth, I bit him and pushed him to the floor. I had been sleeping with the butcher knife at my side, so I grabbed it as I stood up.

Very good

I'd consider this more of an autobiography than a novel. However,I really enjoyed listening. Cora's life was challenging and because of circumstances beyond her control, a brave Little girl developed into a strong woman.

She was raised by her grandparents, people of faith. Life on the mountain was hard, but it developed strong people, not just physically but of faith and character as well.

I love the experience she had with the Lord, that experience is still alive and real today, I've experienced it myself.

The narrator did a wonderful job on this book.

Very Heartwarming

I loved this book. Such tragedies and blessings throughout Cora’s life. I questioned as to whether this story was actually based on a true story as it could have been. Narration was great. Definitely look forward to more from this author.

Beautiful story!

The inclusion of the songs absolutely added to the emotion in the story. Cora seems to overcome all her hardships with strength and determination to better herself. Absolutely beautiful story, although tragic at times. I cried, I smiled, I cheered. I felt everything. Highly recommend!

5 STARS

Cora story from birth to grown. Lots of heartache and drama. A very interesting story. The singing was wonderful, hymns I learned in childhood.

The narration was well done, by Brandi Elise. The accent went well with the storyline.

Christian Historical Romance

I have never read or listened to a story like this. It was almost like reading a person's diary. Told from a first person perspective, it was definitely unique.
I enjoyed the narration and found it a good match for the story.
I did not care for the recipes to be read to me. I would prefer them shared some other way. The singing was nice for the unfamiliar songs!

Wonderful Story

This is a wonderful book. Cora's story of going from childhood to womanhood and all the adversity and adventure is realistic, giving an informative and interesting glimpse in the life in the mountains of Tennessee in the early 1900's. The book is well written and the characters grabbed my heart. It is inspirational and encouraging as Cora's journey leads her to God.

The narration was very goood. I felt like I was hearing Cora tell her story.

Beautifully written history

Beautifully written story about someone’s personal history. I have always loved to hear the stories of our history especially when it is true and written from the heart from someone own past. The story was well written and the narration was so believable it almost made me feel like I was in the mountains of Tennessee watching the story unfold.
