Short But Packed

It’s nice to listen to a short story, for a change. This one fits just right. It’s short but the story has some substance, even a serious one. Dealing with what it’s like for first responders and law enforcement officers in the closet, what they feared coming out and some sad truths about people’s ignorance & cruelty. It’s very written. Drake’s internal debate monologue was getting to be irritating sometimes but I’m glad he did right by Grady and did right by Adam.
The level of steam is good too. The epilogue was hot.
Can’t wait to listen to the second book. I enjoyed Scott Smith’s narration.

great story

The monkey poem! OMG! I'm dead! Kudos author! The biases made me feel sick to my stomach. The words and actions of some-smh!!
Loved this couple's response. Love triumphs hate every time. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

Fun, quick story

This is a great short story. I liked that it had a point of making choices. Does Drake stand up for what he believes in or stay in the closet. When he is almost given no choice he proves to be fearless. This is a fun story when you don’t want to get too involved yet want a complete story. It left me happy at the end and looking forward to the next. The narrator Scott Smith brought these characters to life and put plenty of emotion into the story. I was given a free copy and this is my voluntary review.

Great narration, lovely voice

Story/book review:

Cute quick read with a bit of drama thrown in. I would have liked to have gotten to know the MCs a little more but, you can only put so much into a book with less than 100 pages.

**warning** on-page assault

I am curious to know what happened to David and the others.

Hoping Grady gets his HEA.

Enjoyable start

Overall, this was a fast-pace, sweet romance. Though there are some homophobic slurs and even fighting, I found this story to be real. There is actually quite a bit going on in this story for being so short.

Adam is patient with Drake and I liked that. Everyone comes out for their own reasons at their own time. When push comes to shove Drake does the right thing by his friend. Thankfully things work out in the end.

Scott R. Smith did a great job. Each character had a different voice and he narrated the emotions/feelings just right.

there was some bashing involved. But, for the most part, a sweet coming out story. I really liked it.

great little story

it's short so it is a bit rushed but only because the author decided to have so much happen and cover so many topics. one of the characters is a bit too quirky for me I guess but I like that they're individual people and relatable. I like that the author touched on so many real life issues. there story just seems to breathe on its own in stead of feeling forced and overly fictional. it feels like the author knew what they were talking about in stead of making it all up. and the narration was surprisingly great. this was a new to me narrator but I loved it. he had great pacing and an even tone without sounding monotonous and the sexy scenes were so believable because he was so good at the breathy back and forth dialogue. at 1 point I almost felt like I wad listening in on someone else's phone call. definitely a new fan. I know it's short but for what it is, I definitely recommend it.

Short, hot and fun

A closeted cop and a police force whose bigoted. Hence why he's closeted still.
A coffee shop owner and a gay fireman. Mix them all up, and you have a short story.

Although it's sweet and fun, there's also anger and beatings. Good story, well worth the read / listen.

This book is well written, hot and fun. HEA. Good narration from Scott Smith. Although, like usual, I sped up the audio, and I listened at 1.35 speed on audible.

nice short novella

Nice short novella. It's a bit of "insta love" and doesn't have a too deep, complex plot, but that's got to be expected by the shortness of the story. Nonetheless enjoyed it very much. Good writing style and likeable characters. Good voice actor!

Good Story 💜

This story was well written for a short story. This would have made a terrific full length novel. The characters have amazing chemistry and with the drama, romance & emotions this book has everything.
Narration was perfect.
This is book 1 with an HEA!
