Publisher's Summary

House flippers Jack and Juniper agree to lend and help prep their latest purchase - the Doctor's House, an old Victorian mansion - to act as the eerie setting for the town's Halloween bash. They're expecting to find missing floor boards and pesky bats, not the ghostly specter of the murdered doctor's wife. But when the head of the council is found stuffed in a trunk in the attic, it appears history is repeating.

As June and the team carry on with party preparations, they unravel a century of family secrets, whispers of lunacy - and the number-one suspect goes on the run. But the victim's family insists the ball must go on, even with a killer on the loose.

With Halloween fast approaching, June sees the woman in white and wonders if keeping the killer out was ever really a possibility. Now she's desperate to unmask the killer before the annual Halloween bash turns into even more of a deadly haunt....

Did not like

I found this series slow and boring. Plot was not interesting, and characters poorly developed.
I want to return!

Great Story

This story was fun. It kept me guessing. Loved how the heroine seemed to always find the bodies.

Great book,

This is my first book of this series and I loved it. This is an entertaining and funny cozy mystery. I found myself laughing quite a few times while listening to this book. The characters are interesting and personable. The mystery has several red herrings and twists and turns. This is a great read anytime but especially near Halloween. I look forward to reading/listening to more of this series.

The narrator Ellora Sen-Gupta is great at bringing each character’s personality to life. She has great comedic timing. She is a wonderful storyteller making a great read even better.

I received a copy of this book at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

An interesting cozy mystery!

I had a little bit of trouble getting into this book, but it may have been all on me. The story seemed good with an interesting plot and lots of guessing as to who the killer was, but I found myself having to listen to parts over again to catch what happened. I'm going to go back some time (when life isn't so crazy) and try to listen to the whole thing over again.
This audio book was definitely worth a listen if you like cozy mysteries. The main character's name, Juniper, was unique and will definitely stick with me.
I was given a complimentary copy of this audio book. All thoughts are my own.

Fun cozy mystery.

Cookies, corpses, and the Deadly Haunt is the first book in the Haunted House Flippers Inc. series and thought I thought it got off to a bit of a slow start, I found it to be a fun cozy mystery. The book had an interesting cast of characters and a solid story, though part of the 'romance' angle seemed a bit off/forced and personally I think I would have preferred a different outcome in that regard. Overall I enjoyed it enough that I'll be checking out the sequel.

I received a copy of this audio title in exchange for an unbiased review.

Ghosts and Murder for Halloween!

As an addict of the various TV remodeling, fixer upper, flip and move shows, I was already inclined to enjoy this series, and this first story was a lot of fun! I liked the main characters – Juniper Palmer (from whose point-of-view we watch all the action), Pike Hart – her best friend, Detective Cody Lumos – her new love interest, and Jack Young, her business partner and former love interest. There are a number of plausible suspects provided, and a load of other interesting characters filling out the town of Bohemian Lake.

I loved it!

What a refreshing and original listen this book by Rachael Stapleton is. I so enjoyed the story! Ellora Sen-Gupta performed it brilliantly. Both the author and narrator were new to me, and they will definitely be on my list to listen to again. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I loved the humor and unexpected twists this book had.

Fantastic book.

This book was fantastic. The story kept me entertained and guessing who the killer was. I was really surprised who the killer was and why. I have read three different books by this author in three different series. However, each series connects with each other. I look forward to more in each of these series. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. I also wanted to say the narrator did a fantastic job.

Another entertaining read!

Cookies, Corpses and a Deadly Haunt by Rachel Stapleton

A fun paranormal mystery with a touch of romance. Jack and Juniper are haunted mansion flippers. Their latest project, located in Bohemian Lake is the site of a high profile murder that occurred decades ago. Each time the realtor shows the property, strange things occur. Accordingly, the owners ask Nana Vianu the local Gypsy for assistance. However, Juniper doesn’t believe the house is haunted, and she sets out to discover the truth. As with the Bohemian Murder Mansion series, Rachel Stapleton has managed to combine engaging characters, a Halloween ball, and enough intrigue to make this a delightful cozy-paranormal read.
