Publisher's Summary

Tiana:

Falling for an enemy is taboo. Falling for a guy who stands for everything you and three generations before you have fought against? Unthinkable.

But the day Gunner Cox saved me from a fire was the day my heart no longer belonged to me. It belongs to the damaged and broken boy being dragged down by a monster who shares his DNA.

Gunner:

Race. Hate. War. It’s all I know. Until Tiana Williams enters my life and my heart.

Now, I’m done riding the fence between good and evil. I will fight my demons, and I will get the girl. Even if it kills me.

Seems Realistic, I listened to it twice

This book seemed like it could be as close to reality as I think I could take. The white nationalist story seems like a common situation within that type of life although I would imagine not all are like that. I could identify with his answer when she asked him how could he reject it when it was all that he grew up in when so many other kids just fall in line with that life and beliefs. As a person who grew up around alcohol and different negative things in my environment when it was all that I could see, I knew it was wrong and things should not be that way and I wanted better. This book to me highlights love and not superficial love but bone-deep love and devotion. The situation was unthinkable and how do you get away from that kind of situation? Scary on another level. The way he took care of it in the end I never saw coming. Whew!!! I didn't think he was gonna do it. I originally thought that her family was too much cause she was an adult but I guess that is what the love of a good family is but what I did appreciate about her family was they didn't interfere and they listened and then supported her for whatever happened, they let it play out. I liked how she held on until she was ready to let it go, no matter what the outside situation seemed like she listened to herself, and when it was time she didn't have to think twice about letting it go. I think it was crappy for her not to tell him what she needed to say especially after he dropped off her stuff and she didn't hear from him or have a visit from him after such a traumatic thing happened to her. Who does that to someone you consider a partner? Do you want to know more answers about some of the statements, thoughts about the book? Listen to it and fill in the blanks. I listened to this book twice and I know I will listen to it again. The author did a wonderful job putting out these wonderful words, and the narration was great!

Wow!

This book had me wanting to scream n kick but the author handled the subject matter very well. As a native Detroiter and a graduate of Wayne State University, Misty handled them both perfectly. I’m also 1/2 of an awesome interracial marriage so this story really. held a place in my heart. Gunner n Tianna were so perfect together! Well done!

Wonderful Surprise

I typically don’t care for storylines that include a BWWM written by a non person of color. I selected the book because of the narrator. I am so happy that I took a chance on this book. Excellent storyline, great character development and excellent narration. This book was excellent!

Unexpected

Interesting to listen to the story about love. It was interesting reading about young kids with that much love. Gunner was wise beyond his years and Tiana is smart and focused. I loved the fact that the man wasn’t a Uber rich or billionaire of sorts like all the romance novels. The story while wild, it is something that I can see happening in real life, I appreciated that fact.

I enjoyed the story even though there was some repetitions.

The narrators were good too.

All in all I appreciated the story

Great Story

This was an impactful story. No one could continue to endure this type of abuse without snapping. What’s sad is that this type of hate and white supremacy is more prevalent now than ever before. Narrators did an excellent job. The storyline is so relevant in today’s racial climate. Their love was beautiful.

Very Realistic

The subject matter of this book is very realistic in the way it portrays racism, activism, interracial relationship. It is a well written story but because of the narration I honestly struggled to finish this. The female narrator was really difficult in her male voice and the way she seemed to over portray her character as a Black girl.

Good

I really liked this book and would recommend it. It had a great storyline and sexual storylines. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. The couple was great together, but I did think that the tattoo guy should have heard all the yelling when his father broken in on them.
