Lots of Repetitions

This is not really a book. Instead, it is a series of excerpts from interviews he gave while promoting his book, "Promise Me, Dad." There are lots of repetitions here. If you are a big Joe Biden fan, you won't mind.

Repetitive

By Chapter 5 I was wondering why I was still listening because they kept showcasing verbatim conversations. I made it to chapter 8 but by then I realized I was wasting my time. I would recommend only listening till chapter 3 or 5

Engaging

This is a collection of interviews with Joe Biden. The introduction is by MSNBC’s Mike Barnicke. A sample of some of the interviewers are: Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker, Melinda Gates and Janet Napolitano. These interviews took place after the publication of his book about the death of his son, Beau. This book is interesting and Biden is a natural storyteller. This is a good book to read as Biden may decide to run for president. Through these interviews one gets to know Biden a bit better both as a person and a politician.

The book is five hours and twenty-two minutes. Biden does a good job narrating the book.

Too Repetitive

The stories were honest and heartfelt, but it was the same thing over and over again. since it was recordings of a book tour, I guess that is what you get. I had expected more diversity of topics and stories. Much of it came from Promise Me Dad.

Not so cleverly disguised debate speech

All Joe does throughout this series is to repeat the same stories. When asked really thoughtful questions from the moderators, he doesn’t actually answer - it’s like a debate where he has certain talking points already prepared and is looking for any way to insert them into the conversation. If I had known earlier it was possible to trade in audiobooks, this one would definitely have gotten swapped! Don’t waste your time.

Wonderful

If you truly want to understand Joe Biden the man then listen to these conversations. What I've reaffirmed is that VP Biden is a man of deep devotion and humility. A man who has learned from a lifetime of painful heartbreak, love of his family, his country, service to the nation, and an abiding faith in people.
