Weird

This book is truly weird. The erotic scenes were also weird. There were opportuities for good sex sences but they were overlooked and left to the imagination. The murder investigation got lost in weirdness of the story.

i love the fact that this book deals with a very edgy topy. something that is very taboo mixed with a crime novel and a who-dun-it with a twist.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Control Freak?

the visions of the s&m club that the main character sees during her investigation. she describes something that 99% of the readers would never experience in their lives.

yes, and i almost did - work got in the way.

not for the faint of heart or easily shocked. if you can handle it or have listened to christa's other books - its a great listen.

Not for the feint hearted

So unexpected. When i bought this audio book i was expecting a story based solely on BDSM, but what i got was a story about a person, someone with fears and morals. It wasnt focused on her sex life or the vasade/side of her she only shows in the scene, it was more based on characters that are complex with numerous sides to themselves, and it was portreyed beautifully.
Having said that, Not only did it have complex individual characters,but it also focused on the darker side of fetishes within BDSM. The story led to a place that was unexpected and the ending also had a twist that i didnt see coming.
Buy this book if you dont mind the darker side of BDSM, and are happy to follow a story line.
For me this book had the right amount of everything. A+

Torturous SM potboiler

The Narrator for this book is so irritating at the beginning of the book, that I almost stopped listening. Her narrations gets better the deeper into the book you get, however, the reverse is true for the story which starts out so promisingly. The murder ivestigation seems to get lost in the "erotic" sub plot. I was quite disappointed in this.

Despite the subject matter, the sexual content wasn’t very sexy and the murder plot wasn’t engrossing. The writing isn’t bad and the narrator isn’t bad…. But it just didn’t capture me.

Not what I expected

I selected this audio book expecting, I guess, something a bit like Se7en. I always enjoy a darkly written 'Who dunnit' and I am I big fan of Stuart MacBride. This novel was nothing like that. The novel, although engagingly read (I did manage to finish it- just) was more like a soft porn fictional read about the Bondage underworld. Little emphasis was put on finding the killer of the murdered women mentioned at the start of the book. Instead the author follows the main character, Caitlin, as she discovers she is a Dominant and that she quite enjoys a bit of bondage even when some people get hurt. That just about sums it!
