Publisher's summary

Every witch knows the rules: Stick to your own kind. Never reveal your powers to outsiders. Take a consort from the witching families or kiss your magic good-bye forever.

For years I've been quiet, obedient Rose Hallowell. I accepted the man my stepmother chose for me. But I never stopped missing my long-ago friends.

Now we're back on my childhood estate to arrange my marriage. The boys I grew up with? They're still in town - and they haven't forgotten me either. And damn if they haven't grown up well.

They've got no magic, no place in my life. But they're charming and sweet and infuriatingly hot, and I can't seem to stay away. The more I try to resist, the more secrets I uncover about my family, my betrothal, and everything I thought was true about the witching world.

I've been lied to. I've been betrayed. So to claim my magic and my happiness, I'll break every rule there is - and then some.

Don't mess with this witch. Every rose has thorns.

Contains mature themes.

Interesting but...

so far the story is interesting. I had read Rose's Boys first so I knew the dynamic and wasnt surprised how things progressed with the boys or Rose. BUT...

The Male narrator sounds like he is at least 65 (not even remotely like 25 year olds) AND he does other voices so poorly it's honestly cringe inducing. Read it on KU and skip the Audiobook.

Conflicted. Confused. Ug!

I absolutely love the voice acting skills of Aletha George!! She's amazing, fabulous, even gets the male voices right...

So why then did we have to be subjected to Tristan James? 😓 Constructively, I gotta say I didn't hate his voice itself, he just needs to figure out how to: use voice inflection(!!); use his voice to ACT the part of each character... this was possibly the hardest part of listening to him - he was never able to adjust his voice according to how the narration was telling us the character was feeling... it was sooo weird; and modulate his voice so the dialogue stands apart from the narration.

it was frustrating to hear Ms. George voicing the men so well, then to pop over to Mr. James & have him butcher the same characters. It's rare I would say this, but I would have greatly preferred this listen voiced ONLY by Aletha George.

Also... (and please know I'm about to listen to the second book)... the reading level for this book is like... fifth grade or so? But the subject matter is NOT FOR CHILDREN. So I'm super confused. I thought when purchasing this that I'd enjoyed other Eva Chase books, but now I'm going to have to dig through my archive and see... because this was painful.

I dunno...... the story itself... the idea... has me gripped. So I want to move on to the next book, but now I'm waffling.... because I simultaneously dread actually hearing it. Ugh!

the righting might be good but the narrator killed it.

The lady used to narrate the book does a great job she voices the character she's energetic she's everything you want in a narrator. The other narrator that was chosen decided he didn't really want to read the book. At least that's my impression. He's terribly soft-spoken he doesn't seem to do the characters. It seems almost like he's bored or like he doesn't wish to be there. All in all not useful if you're doing things like driving or you need to be entertained to stay awake this is not the thing for you. I'm told the story gets better but I couldn't hang on that long through the 2nd narrator.

Addicting Series

Briar Rose is an amazing FMC and the 4 guys we are introduced too are equally as thrilling. I love the story and the heat in this book. The ending was great with the surprise that showed up. makes me excited for book 2.
