'A racy, engrossing read' PROFESSOR IAN ROBERTSON

'Incredibly absorbing, leaving even the most confident orator with food for thought' PSYCHOLOGIES

Communication can make the difference between failure and success. When communication goes badly, it's a nightmare. When it goes well, it's the stuff of dreams.

In this revelatory and entertaining guide, top speechwriter Simon Lancaster reveals that the secret to great communication lies not in logic alone, but in skilfully connecting with people's deepest instincts and emotions. Through the power of connections, it is possible to transform people's perceptions about almost anything, making the scary safe, the unfamiliar familiar, and even turning a 'no' into a 'yes'.

Drawing on cutting-edge neuroscience and ancient rhetoric, Lancaster examines ten powerful connections you can instantly make to change how people think, feel and act. Forget incomprehensible acronyms, mixed metaphors and jumbled jargon; with these connections, you can literally get people's mouths watering, make their hearts race and leave them addicted to your presence.

Packed with wisdom, humour and actionable methods, Connect is the ultimate guide to great communication, giving you the power to inspire, influence and energise anyone, anywhere, anytime.

Insightful, scientific and easy to follow

Even for those of us who weren’t born with the ability to speak publicly, it is possible to learn how to do it. That’s what the author did, methodically, and all that knowledge is put together in an easy to understand language, sprinkled with scientific studies (and an extra shot of shared excitement for those who choose the audiobook).
The connection metaphor is explored throughout the book in brilliant and relevant ways. Definitely worth it!

Next level public speaking skills that anyone can utilize!

There are many books on the fundamentals of public speaking. This is not one of them.

These tips + tricks are the union of ancient rhetoric and modern neuroscience, told with the experience of someone who actually wrote winning speeches in the political realm.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who is ready to take their public speaking craft to the next level in the shortest amount of time.

Also, if you haven’t read his other book ‘Winning Minds”. Its well worth the read!

I learned to improve speeches

There is excellent core content on speech writing and connecting with people, built on, and explained by interesting and relevant background stories. I was immediately able to practically and successfully apply much of the content.
Simon is entertaining and he seems sincere. He seems to be somewhat "woke". Overall I'm glad with my purchase. Thanks Simon.

Boring, Offensive and Incompetent

I regret purchasing it the book. This author has nothing to say. He seems to be under the delusion that he is wise, but proves to be a fool.
