Publisher's summary

The only possible thing that could make Morgan's world even more difficult happened. The Japanese fleet off the coast of California was wiped out. An even that Morgan and friends and family only knew about because of the radio broadcasts from the Radio Free Redoubt. So far removed from them it barely warranted notice. That is until the Chinese retaliated by launching a nuclear counter-strike against Mac Dill Air Force base. This, did warrant their attention and had the potential to profoundly impact their lives.

As bad as the fear of nuclear fallout was, it wasn't the only threat still haunting northern Lake county. With proof the Russians had pathfinder units on the ground, at a minimum, in the state and discovery of Cuban forces cooperating with them, something had to be done. After encountering armored units and realizing they were ill equipped to deal with the threat, the old man called for help. The call was answered, but would require a near impossible trip by truck to Eglin Air Force base. America was certainly on the ropes, but she wasn't down yet.

All Morgan wants to do is protect his family and friends. To restore a normal sense of life. To see to it Mel and his girls are safe and protected. He doesn't want to get involved in these military actions. He's more focused on trying to restore power to town. But his desires are, to use a military term, overtaken by circumstances, and, once again, Morgan and his friends are compelled to get involved. And this time, it will cost them.

A.A. knocks it out of the ballpark, again!

A.A. and Duke Fontaine do it again! This book, like all the others in this series, is phenomenal. A.A. has yet to disappoint me with the way he writes and Duke.... Duke is AMAZING! I sure hope that book 10 is in the works.....

Another hit!

I love the continuing story and characters. But it is frustrating waiting for each book of the series. Be our slave A American and write faster, we love you!

It can always be worse!

There’s an old saying that goes something like; If the situation hasn’t been bad enough for Morgan, family, and friends, it could always be worse. After successfully repelling DHS advances coming close to home, I thought our boys deserved a break for a job well done. Well, that’s not going to happen. Rumors of Chinese and Russian troops getting “boots on the ground” were bad enough, but now we have Cuban armor and soldiers getting into the act. Relief supplies have begun coming in from NATO allies but one such ally thought they would slip in a few tanks and APC’s, which caused quite the uproar. An eye-for-an-eye exchange leaves Mac Dill Air Force base in ruins, and the threat of fallout a reality. Those Cuban troops thought they would share some shock and awe as well, leaving one of our group in a body bag. Escalation and reprisal on a local level lead to some old-fashion justice. Eventually things quiet down and our “family of survivors” are able to enjoy a double wedding! In closing, we are given a glimpse of a bright light in the midst of darkness, as electricity returns to a small part of northern Lake county.

The best series I've 'read' -will not disappoint!!

Probably one of the best series I've 'read' in a very long while. I assure you - this series will not disappoint. Give it a listen!
The narrator fits the role perfectly. A.American certainly paints a vivid picture of a post apocalyptic USA- made all the more interesting by being born and raised in Central Florida. :-)
Enjoy!
