Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface. She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they're both drawn to sad things. Which means they're drawn to each other. Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn't realize is that a rip current is coming, and it's about to drag her heart out to sea.

Publisher's Summary
From number-one New York Times best-selling author Colleen Hoover, a new novel about risking everything for love - and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.
Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight, and there's no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn't expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.
For once Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is keeping some major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.
The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can't seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin.

Disappointed
I'll preface this by saying: I either LOVE or HATE Colleen Hoover's novels. I LOVED Ugly Love, and have listened to it more than once. On the other hand, I couldn't make it through Hopeless as hard as I tried. That being said, I was anxiously awaited this book hoping it would fall into the realm of the former rather than the latter.
Annnnd I relatively disappointed by this one. While this book is still much better than a lot of books out there as far as quality goes, it was a slow listen for me. The plot was anticlimactic and predictable, the characters were a one-dimensional, and I never really felt a connection to the storyline.
I really wanted to like this one but it just fell flat for me. Worth a credit if you're a Colleen Hoover fan, but if you haven't read any of her stuff, I'd spend my credit on Maybe Someday or Ugly Love instead.

OMG… One Must Give this book a listen.
One More Gifted book from Colleen Hoover. She spins this intricate web of confessions that make Owen and Auburn’s story slowly reveal itself. One May Guess at whose Confession will be bigger. You end up trapped in the center wanting to jump to the end to know what confession might break them completely… but you can’t because you don’t want to miss a minute of this incredible book.
Sebastian York has always been my favorite male Narrator for his portrayal of alpha males. Owen is definitely not an alpha male, he is a sensitive artist. I was thinking that Sebastian wouldn't work in the role... being like a loud drum solo instead of the intricate guitar solo you expected. Thank goodness Sebastian pulled it off. In the beginning of the book he portrays Owen with a soft almost boyish sweetness as he welcomes Auburn into his studio. As Owen life and confessions unravel, Sebastian bring the power back into his voice as he fights for what he wants. He captures all the nuances in the book from the sweet confessions in the tent to the intense moments in the Art Studio.
As for Elizabeth Louis, she shines throughout the book. She is completely believable as Auburn’s character and the way she captures Auburn and Owens interactions with shy reserve to intense desire had me on the edge of my seat.
Colleen’s made an excellent choice of Elizabeth and Sebastian to bring alive this amazing book full of emotional highs & lows along with some extreme hate that might require a gun toting Bestie (just sayin’). The pair were like the perfect duet pulling you in with their harmonizing voices and leaving you ready to put it on repeat to listen to over and over again.
OMG… One Must Give this book a listen.

Weak Characters
Confess was a struggle to finish. Auburn and Owen were both weak characters; Auburn's level of weakness was inexcusable throughout most of the book, although the reader is supposed to forgive her because she has something to lose if she fights against those causing her adversity. Even though Auburn and Owen 'won' in the end, it was placid and unsatisfying. I was surprised that this book was so highly rated...I know Colleen Hoover is an awesome YA writer as I have a couple of her books, but Confess fell flat. Save your credit and get "Maybe Someday" if you don't already have it.

#Confess, 5 stars are not enough for this story!
OMG (not being lame, you’ll see when you read the book) this is one of the most incredible stories I have read. Colleen Hoover just has this amazing talent of weaving storylines together, so much so you can never guess what is coming. This book will fill you with so many emotions right from the prologue. I literally went from sobbing, to laughing to hating some characters so much I could feel my blood pressure rising! The story has the perfect blend of raw reality and humor right when you need it most.
I read the paperback and listened to the audiobook at the same time, because I simply did not want to have to put the story down for any reason! Sebastian York and Elizabeth Louise did an amazing job narrating the story for the chapters I listened to. I look forward to listening to the whole audiobook soon since this story just begs to be read over and over!
Of course, this isn’t just a simple book. In the digital or paperback version, you also get to see the paintings (commissioned by Danny O’Connor) that Owen creates from peoples’ confessions and that adds so much more to the experience. I can’t even look at the last painting without wanting to curl up in the fetal position and bawl my eyes out! Please do yourself a favor and also purchase the digital or hard copy of the books in addition to this very well done audiobook!
I am simply in awe of Colleen Hoover’s creativity and storytelling ability. Seriously, 5 stars are just not enough for this book!

Colleen tares my heart once again...
What did you love best about Confess?
I couldn't believe that I was emotional just two minutes into the book!! I had to pause it and think literally say to myself.. "ARE you kidding me Colleen?? ALREADY???" with a huge smile on my face. I just knew I was in for a good experience.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Confess?
For me was just when she sat there reading all the confessions. Just listening to them..and knowing that these were actual confessions from REAL people... it was touching. Emotional.
Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Louise and Sebastian York ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. They are fabulous. They are by far, my two favorite narrators!!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did. One sitting.
Any additional comments?
I loved everything about this book except that it was too short. I would of liked seeing the AFTER all the mess.. that happened... but i loved it. You did it again, Colleen and I can't wait for your next one. And I look forward to listening to this one again, but that is a guarantee.

It's YA for starters
I am experiencing difficulty believing that this book was written by the same author who wrote 'This Ends With Us", a very well crafted story in every way.
This book is populated by characters in their early 20's in adult situations whose thinking and emotions are that of 13 year old children 'trying to be good'. It's creepy.

I Confess I'm A CoHort!
I'm a HUGE Colleen Hoover fan. And OMG… this is a goodie! She wove a tapestry of confessions that slowly unraveled to reveal Owen and Auburn’s love story. And I could never guess what was coming next. The story line was compelling, characters multi-dimensional and the scandal sensational. The twists -the personal confessions- are what made this story an absolute standout.
Listening on audio was a treat with Sebastian York, one of my favorite male narrators. Elizabeth Louise delivers the female role right on point. Both capture the emotions and deliver pure entertainment that's worthy of another listen.
I review for the Guilty Indulgence Review Site.

Excellent: twisting plots
Recently started reading Hoovers books, they are addictive. This book had all the drama but none of the predictability a lot of similar stories have. At first I thought Owen was a creep and I felt so much sadness for the main character and her situation, everything comes to light and is so nicely resolved. This story will have you on edge :)

If you could sum up Confess in three words, what would they be?
OMG - 3 words and they will mean more to you when you read the book.
What did you like best about this story?
Its originality, strength of story, delivery of characters, depth and development of characters.
Which character – as performed by Elizabeth Louise and Sebastian York – was your favourite?
