Publisher's summary

Dark things are dwelling in Jotham, Texas. Malicious forces are seen emerging from the sinister house on Oak Lee Road....

With little memory of the events that took the lives of his friends, Bobby Weeks tries to move on with his life, and finds a job at a warehouse on Galveston Island. The evil in Jotham won't leave him behind, though. Strangers from the cursed town find him, offering information about what happened to his friends. It all leads back to Baelo University...back to Jotham.

Luna Blanche has always been gifted, but now she must use those gifts to save Bobby.... Luna goes to the Mississippi Delta to take care of her dying grandmother. She misses Bobby, and when she attempts to see Bobby through her mind, all she finds is a deadly future. Fearing his life is in danger, she leaves the Delta and searches for him in Jotham.

Neville and Boris Petry want nothing more than the picturesque American dream.... After Boris accepts a new job teaching at Baelo University, the Petrys move to Jotham to finally live out their dream. Following a drunken faculty party, Neville discovers she is pregnant. She should be ecstatic, but dreadful dreams lead her to feel as if something is wrong with the baby, her husband...and the school.

Four destinies bound on a collision course, a plot conceived in the shadows of Jotham...and an evil biding its time...waiting for them all.

An interesting insigth on the series

I received this book from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.

It was pretty interesting, this one I can say it's mostly two in one.

You can say it deepens the events in the other books and explains some things we wanted to know and on the other hand it's an amazing anchor for the next book later.

I liked that it went deeper on Luna's heritage and gifts and in her personality and relations with others.

A nice story to bound them all together.

Spooky horror story

This story started out slow to me because of the prologue and then individual characters' stories. But once I became familiar with the story, I was hooked. There is great detail so you feel like you're in the story with the characters, experiencing their confrontation with evil. There characters are complex and it's easy to get drawn into their stories/emotions.

The narration was okay. I found the narrator's tone a bit flat, generic. It was particularly dark or gritty, matching the tone of the story. However, the pacing is good, the enunciation clear and easy to understand, and he does not detract from the story by trying to personalize his voice for each character.

Fans of horror and supernatural tales will enjoy this story.

Creepy series!

The Subdue series has been great so far! A very creepy story with werewolves and ancient evils. I'm hoping the author writes more in this series. Bobby and Luna's story can't end like this! Excellent narration by Rick Gregory! I'm glad too see the author continues to use the same narrator throughout the series.

3rd in series

I really enjoyed listening to this book which has it all action, paranormal/ghosts, horror, voodoo and good characterization. My favorite characters in this book were Luna and her grandmother and the resurrection of John. I really feel for Bobby thru out the series. You have to listen to find out what Neville gives birth to. Look forward to Luna and Bobby next adventure. Recommend listening to complete series to understand the characters and there situations. Recommend to anyone who likes the supernatural. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you!

Another great chapter in the series

The whole Subdue series has been a fun ride. I feel like each story while connected are quite different from each other. Each seems to have their own style which makes for a neat series. The books probably can stand alone but they really need to be listened to in order. You want to know the backstory of characters to fully appreciate them. Out of the three so far this one was my second favorite. Looking forward to the next story.
I enjoyed the characters of this story. Felt like this was more character driven than the last book. Luna, was great but I loved Neville and Boris Petry’s story. Really felt like Rosemary’s baby which is one of my favorite stories. Luna’s family history was really neat and I look forward to more of her story in the next book.
Rick Gregory did a great job. Really enjoy his character voices and loved his voice for John Turner. Can’t wait to hear more.

horror!!!

So, if you're looking for horror, with a side dish of ancient tribal evil, this is your book. It can be read as a standalone, or out of order, and still make sense. insectophobes need not apply, lol. this is one of my go-to authors for shock-value, and a narrator I can count on to deliver a good story. Thoroughly enjoyed , or cringed the heck out, however you want to look at it.

HORROR, ANCIENT EVIL, CREEPFEST!

I love horror stories, and really loved this one. Great read!! Bobby and Luna are excellent characters, and I'm looking forward to reading/listening to others in the series. Great story, great narration. And I'm glad it's considered stand-alone so I wasn't lost without having yet read the others, but I certainly will! All twisting together, it really was a very enjoyable listen. Would definitely recommend it to others! :)
