This prophecy will come true, according to Miles Taylor, if we do not learn the lessons of the recent past. With the 2024 election approaching, the formerly “Anonymous” official is back with bombshell revelations and a sobering national forecast.

Story
Peter Baker and Susan Glasser argue that Trump was not just lurching from one controversy to another; he was learning to be more like the foreign autocrats he admired. The Divider brings us into the Oval Office for countless scenes both tense and comical, revealing how close we got to nuclear war with North Korea, which cabinet members had a resignation pact, and much more. The book also explores the moral choices confronting those around Trump—how they justified working for a man they considered unfit for office, and where they drew their lines.

Publisher's summary
This book is dedicated to the truth. It's still a thing.
Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump is a fascinating on-the-ground and behind-the-scenes survey of Donald Trump's ethics deficit on and off the golf course.
Renowned sports writer Rick Reilly transports listeners onto the greens with President Trump, revealing the absurd ways in which he lies about his feats and what they can tell us about the way he leads off the course in the most important job in the world.
Reilly has been with Trump on the fairways, on the greens and in the rough; he has seen how the President plays - and it's not pretty. Based on his personal experiences and interviews with dozens of golf pros, amateurs, developers, partners, opponents and even caddies who have firsthand involvement with Trump out on the course, Reilly takes a deep and often hilarious look at how Trump shamelessly cheats at golf, lies about it, sues over it, bullies with it and profits from it.
From Trump's ridiculous claim to have won 18 club championships, to his devious cheating tricks, to his tainted reputation as a golf course tycoon, Commander in Cheat tells you everything you need to know about the man.
You could write a book about what Trump's golf reveals about him. Here it is.

Story about a broke old obese crazy person
This book would be very funny if the stakes wouldn't be so high. We have this insane old narcissistic conman with his finger on the nuclear trigger and a whole part of the establishment pretending not to notice. It really is Berlin 1932 all over again.
Thanks to Rick for giving us yet another heads up...

An important book, brilliantly narrated.
Narrated by the author. I believe this is Rick Reilly's first narration and he does a great job, bringing out the humour & the irony - but also communicating a barely-controlled rage (rightly so) in the really outrageous, horrifying sections. This is very refreshing, he really speaks from the heart - and his tag-on 'thank you' section at the end is quite moving.
Regarding the story: there are many laugh-out-loud/slap your forehead in disbelief moments in the first half or so. But then it gets progressively darker and more sinister as Trump's golf escapades both as a 'player' and as a businessman leech into real world situations: politics, foreign policy, humanitarian crises, personal relationships, ecology... I wasn't surprised by most of the antics described - I've followed Trump's career as a hardened liar and cheat quite closely - but there were still a few sections where I had steam coming out of my ears.
This book is a great historical document.
Such a shame that the world is stuck with a narcissistic, manipulative, cold-hearted, lying, cheating, self-serving POTUS for the forseeable future. I'm scared, how about you?

OK, so you’re not a big fan of Trump!
Wow, this was just one big yawn of Trump bashing, it was so monotonous listening as the voice droned on and on.
I think with a more detached view this could have been a very different listen, but it really made me depressed.
I was up for some subjective listening, instead I couldn’t take anymore and had to stop before my ears caved in!

Sometimes you go slightly off the beaten track...
and life rewards you with a fantastic experience.
I've read some serious books about Trump (The Room Where it Happened, Sound and Fury...) and I've never read anything about golf, but, to my amazement, learning about golf and Trump at the same time, brought a greater understanding of the man. He is such an enigma - how did a guy like that...? - and through this book you see not only the howling, terrible flaws, but also some of the energy and cunning that, yes, can 'work' in certain circumstances. Rick Reilly, who reads his own book, is strikingly balanced in his portrayal. Obviously horrified on some occasions, gobsmacked on others, but also impressed and analytical. He is also just funny, with all his American hyperboles as in 'Sold like Anthrax Cupcakes' or 'Does Liz Taylor have a wedding dress?' and so on. Maybe he misses some of the darkest aspects of Trump, but he doesn't claim to be writing the definitive biography.
It's a quick, rollicking, read that packs a lot of information - about golf and America's love of golf as well as Trump - into a very enjoyable listen.

Well researched and written
I know little about golf but I understand enough about the vanity of celebs and sports-people who are willing to turn a blind-eye to a cheat if there is gain in it for them. When you condone bad behaviour on a golf course you lose your moral compass along with the cheat's.
This book is so well written that it summarises the 'Commander' in such simple terms that you know he would not know loyalty, honesty or integrity if it stood in the middle of a green!
Well written about a lousy person.

The most entertaining audiobook I've heard in ages
This audiobook was fantastic. The style of writing, and the excellent narrator do it so much justice. I knew Trump was a cheat at everything in life, but I never knew he was this bad. The correlation between golf and him as a president is funny and terrifying! I didn't think I liked golf, but Reilly may have changed my mind. His book is full of well researched facts and he writes with passion. Absolutely 5 stars.

An Eye opener and leaves you shaking your head
Very interesting if you wish to see how Trump ticks. Some of the stories are simply unbelievable yet you know he did it. Does give some insight into the person.
Enjoyable book to listen too

Cheat and thief - Great book
Great book....Rick has a great sense of humour, I chuckled often, very entertaining and informative. Trump is a weak, pathetic pathological liar in all aspects of his life. Imagine living a lie like this ignorant narcissist

I wanna play golf!
I’ve had golf on the outer fringes of my life always there. But never really got past playing on sheep mown, pine cone littered, NZ public courses.
When I moved to Australia I was confronted with ‘The rules’ of a city golf course. And the sneers of those who had all the right clothing and equipment. At me. Who had but a rental set.
However. After listening to this book. I really want to play again!
Great job on the narration. I could tell it was from the heart.
And great job on the story. I got it all.

The colorful, sentimental, funny, affectionate, cantankerous memoir by the most colorful, funniest, most cantankerous-- and probably the most revered-- sportswriter of the last fifty years. Dan Jenkins is accepted as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) golf writer of all time, wrote beloved bestselling novels and abused more corporate expense accounts than anyone who ever lived. It's a touching, laugh-out-loud tribute to the romanticism of old-time sportswriting-- and the glory days of sports.

Story
Surprisingly, one of sport’s most contentious, complex, and defining clashes played out not in the boxing ring or at the line of scrimmage but on the genteel green fairways of the world’s finest golf courses. Arnie and Jack. Palmer and Nicklaus. Their 50-year duel, in both the clubhouse and the boardroom, propelled each to the status of American icon and pushed modern golf to the heights and popularity it enjoys today. Yet for all the ink that has been spilled on these two essential golf figures individually, no one has ever examined their relationship in this way.
