Publisher's summary

A New York Times best seller!

By the actress, writer, and one of the funniest women on Twitter, an outrageous, hysterical memoir of acting on impulse, plotting elaborate hoaxes, and refusing to acknowledge boundaries in any form.

Jenny Mollen is an actress and writer living in Los Angeles. She is also a wife, married to a famous guy (which is annoying only because he gets free shit and she doesn't). She doesn't want much from life. Just to be loved - by everybody: her parents, her dogs, her ex-boyfriends, her ex-boyfriends' dogs, her husband, her husband's ex-girlfriends, her husband's ex-girlfriend's new boyfriends, etc. Some people might call that impulse crazy, but isn't "crazy" really just a word boring people use to describe fun people? (And Jenny is really, really fun, you guys!)

In this program, you'll find stories of Jenny at her most genuine, whether it's stalking her therapist (because he knows everything about her so shouldn't she get to know everything about him?); throwing a bachelorette party so bad that one of the guests is suspected dead; or answering the eternal question: Would your best friend blow your husband on a car ride to dinner if she didn't know you were hiding in the backseat?

I Like You Just the Way I Am is about not doing the right thing - about indulging your inner crazy person. It is Jenny when she's not trying to impress anyone or come across as a responsible, level-headed member of society. With any luck it will make you better acquainted with who you really are and what you really want. Which, let's be honest, is most likely someone else's email password.

So good and soooo funny

So, so funny. Got it for a road trip and while the first few stories (or chapters) were funny it was a bit slow but then it becomes so amazing and doesn't let up. Had me laughing out loud - in my car - by myself. Hilarious!

Was skeptical at first but then was pleasantly surprised.

Initially I thought she was trying to copy Chelsea Handler. I stopped listening after a few chapters. Then I picked it up a few days later and could not stop laughing. Sometimes her narration bugged me but having Jason in there was perfect. Some of her stories are just down right hysterical. Exaggerated or not....

Non stop laughter

I couldn’t stop laughing, and usually in public like a crazy person!! Jenny killed it, loved Jason’s cameos. It was too much fun.

Wish it was longer!!!

Having read one of Jenny’s books, and loved it, I was thrilled to experience this book through her voice. Real. Funny. Delightfully disturbing at times... can’t wait for her next one!

Love!

Definitely recommend! And if you're not already watching her Instagram stories you're missing out and need to start right away. (Oh and follow Jason Biggs too for a nice accompanying story line). 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun

Fun and relatable book to listen to. It made me laughing out loud. Leaving everyone around looking at me weird. Can't wait to listen to book 2.

Loved it. So glad I bought this.

What made the experience of listening to I Like You Just the Way I Am the most enjoyable?

I am very interested in the point of view and experiences of people that are around my age, born between 1978-1982. We are slightly more mature than the younger millennials, but also too young to fully fit in with Gen X (or as I read somewhere once, "Generation Catalano" which explains it perfectly.) I totally identified with her personality and neurotic/over-analytical thought processes.

What other book might you compare I Like You Just the Way I Am to and why?

Books by Mindy Kaling or Jenny Lawson, women who are not afraid to be open about their true thoughts and feelings.

Which character – as performed by Jenny Mollen – was your favorite?

Jenny, of course! I had never really heard of her before, and so happy I stumbled upon this gem.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book helped me realize that just because you're married and over 30 doesn't mean you have to be boring and lame. I appreciate the way that her husband seems to understand her quirks and can express his different opinions, or even exasperation with her at times, while at the same time remaining loyal to her and not demand that she change who she is or how she thinks/feels.

Any additional comments?

I hope she writes another book soon.
