Publisher's Summary

From breakout stand-up comedian Iliza Shlesinger comes a subversively funny collection of essays and observations on a confident woman's approach to friendship, singlehood, and relationships.

"Girl Logic" is Iliza's term for the way women obsess over details and situations that men don't necessarily even notice. She describes it as a characteristically female way of thinking that appears to be contradictory and circuitous but is actually a complicated and highly evolved way of looking at the world. When confronted with critical decisions about dating, sex, work, even getting dressed in the morning, Iliza argues that women will by nature consider every repercussion of every option before making a move toward what they really want. And that kind of holistic thinking can actually give women an advantage in what is still a male world.

In Iliza's own words: "Understanding Girl Logic is a way of embracing both our aspirations and our contradictions. GL is the desire to be strong and vulnerable. It's wanting to be curvy, but rail thin at the same time. It's striving to kick ass in a man's world while still being loved by the women around you.

"This book is also for me, because apparently expounding on a stage for two hours a night wasn't enough. (Trust me, if I could start a cult I would, but I hate the idea of deliberately dying in a group.)"

Great to hear her voice/inflection

Would you consider the audio edition of Girl Logic to be better than the print version?

I loved the audio book more than the print version - as she adds a few lines, and shares her "voices" - which makes you laugh out loud!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The best part of this book helps you to think about how you are living your own life. She encourages you to ditch regret and second guessing yourself, which is really what most women need reminding of!

Which character – as performed by Mayim Bialik and Iliza Shlesinger – was your favorite?

Both were fantastic

If you could give Girl Logic a new subtitle, what would it be?

Stand up for yourself!

*Too Fun*

Great mix of A life biography thus far, comedy, and theory. This lady is on the road to somewhere big. And she speaks of how you're on that same road too. Give it a listen. The worst that can happen is being left feeling encouraged, inspired, and having a smile on your face.

Love at first listen

I love Iliza. I've loved her since I first saw her on Netflix. I think she's an awesome comedian and also a very witty and quick feminist. This book was inspirational and made me really want to get back out there and try again. Sometimes the mere effort it takes to try can become overwhelming. But she really makes some great (and inspirational) points about trying and failing or trying and succeeding. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of her comedy, to anyone who is stuck in a rut, and to anyone wanting to get a deeper insight into the female mind and all its absurdity.

Love her!

I have had a copy of the book since it debuted...it sat on my nightstand for months. I am so happy I never had time to read it and I downloaded the audible because having her narrate the book adds so much more to the book! Love it!

Finished it in less than a day...

I’ve been wanting to read this book since it came out but I have very little free time which is when I decided to get it on audible. It was a treat to hear her read her own book and give the passages the correct intonation. There were times that she sounded like she was on a never ending rant and therefore lost me a little bit but over all it was well written and insightful. I can truly relate to her perception of people. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one out there that thinks this way! Thanks for a fun read Iliza!!

Honest and Funny

If you could sum up Girl Logic in three words, what would they be?

Honest, funny, and smart

Who was your favorite character and why?

Iliza, obviously

Have you listened to any of Mayim Bialik and Iliza Shlesinger ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've watched all of Iliza's standup specials and think that this was equally as funny, but smarter and sharper.

Any additional comments?

She does an excellent job channeling the "everywoman" inner monologue without patronizing.

Read. This. Book!!!!

From talking about her body insecurities, explaining how hard it is to date in the modern world, and rag on how gross people look in mules, this book has something for everyone! If you love her standup, you’ll love this audible because it feels like you’re watching her. This book came out in November and I’ve already listen to it three times! Buy it, learn from it, and spread the word about this truly amazing book!
