Publisher's Summary

From breakout stand-up comedian Iliza Shlesinger comes a subversively funny collection of essays and observations on a confident woman's approach to friendship, singlehood, and relationships.

"Girl Logic" is Iliza's term for the way women obsess over details and situations that men don't necessarily even notice. She describes it as a characteristically female way of thinking that appears to be contradictory and circuitous but is actually a complicated and highly evolved way of looking at the world. When confronted with critical decisions about dating, sex, work, even getting dressed in the morning, Iliza argues that women will by nature consider every repercussion of every option before making a move toward what they really want. And that kind of holistic thinking can actually give women an advantage in what is still a male world.

In Iliza's own words: "Understanding Girl Logic is a way of embracing both our aspirations and our contradictions. GL is the desire to be strong and vulnerable. It's wanting to be curvy, but rail thin at the same time. It's striving to kick ass in a man's world while still being loved by the women around you.

"This book is also for me, because apparently expounding on a stage for two hours a night wasn't enough. (Trust me, if I could start a cult I would, but I hate the idea of deliberately dying in a group.)"

Great to hear her voice/inflection

Would you consider the audio edition of Girl Logic to be better than the print version?

I loved the audio book more than the print version - as she adds a few lines, and shares her "voices" - which makes you laugh out loud!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The best part of this book helps you to think about how you are living your own life. She encourages you to ditch regret and second guessing yourself, which is really what most women need reminding of!

Which character – as performed by Mayim Bialik and Iliza Shlesinger – was your favorite?

Both were fantastic

If you could give Girl Logic a new subtitle, what would it be?

Stand up for yourself!

*Too Fun*

Great mix of A life biography thus far, comedy, and theory. This lady is on the road to somewhere big. And she speaks of how you're on that same road too. Give it a listen. The worst that can happen is being left feeling encouraged, inspired, and having a smile on your face.

Every girl and woman should listen/read

I've loved her from the beginning of your stardom. To hear this book read by her is a whole other experience. It's Iliza in a book: empowering and entertaining. I loved every word, every story, and every quirky but of herself she put in this. This book is a MUST HAVE.

Not Your Everyday Brilliant Stand-Up Comedian

I have been a fan of Iliza's since she was on Last Comic Standing. Even then she was smarter, deeper and faster than her peers. As the "one guy" who was reading her book-as she joked-I was constantly surprised not only by the depth of her thought process but the compassion she brings to all manners of relationships. I am a happily married man in his 50's-clearly not her demo-but I think I learned more about interpersonal relationships and women in general than any other single book I've read. This book was wise, honest, empathetic and hilarious. I can't recommend it enough.

my superhero

my husband and I listened to this book every night and at least 10 times he has sideways glanced at me and that's his way of telling me that what Iliza was saying applied to me. I look forward to seeing more of Iliza, she is smart, witty, and just amazing all round (yes total girl crush) thank you for making me feel like I'm not the only woman out there just like me.

A more serious version of her standup routine...

...except this includes real life stories and scenarios that ALL women encounter. Regularly. A great listen, with lots of logic and a "smattering" of her unique humor. Definitely worth a listen. I thoroughly enjoyed and related to it. (says a 30+ yo female)
