Publisher's summary

Like Poe on nitrous oxide.

Have you ever wanted to escape?

Ever wished you were a character in a story?

Be careful what you wish for.

I wanted that once, too. And now here I am. And it sucks.

How did I get here?

What did I do to deserve this?

Trapped in the nightmarish world of Edgar Allan Poe - sort of.

Why are these tales so much worse than the originals?

Why is everyone I meet so annoying? And what’s the deal with their wonky eyeballs?

E is for Eyeball is what happens when you put works of public domain into the hands of an incompetent lunatic.

Horrific. Hilarious. Ridiculous.

You'll laugh till your eyes pop out.

“A real mustn’t listen.” -Every Critic Ever

Not For Me

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

DNF at 21%.

It's not that this audiobook is bad, I just don't get it. It was really bizarre and I couldn't follow anything that was happening. I just thought the whole book was crazy.

Not as funny and C and D, but still good

I didn't laugh through this one as much as i did with books C and D, but i did laugh at parts. This one felt like it was just to here, there and everywhere that i felt more confused at times than humorous. I may have to listen to this again to see if i might have just missed something

This series is really entertaining and original

A totally crazy and engaging take on Edger Allan Poe's work. It wasn't as laugh out loud funny as the other books I've listened to by this author, but still quite good. Definitely worth listening to if you like original takes on classics.

Bizzaro Poe

What did I just listen to? While it sounds like the ramblings of a twelve year it is quite clever. Totally has the Drunken History feel as there is a story there but told through the mouth of an insane person. Like having Howling Mad Murdock recite a story. As crazy as this story is, unless you are BA Baracus, this string of Poe tales is quite fun and totally enjoyable. I’m not as proficient in Poe as I would like to be so this was interesting trying to remember how the original story was versus this one. Definitely a neat concept and will make me go listen to some of the original Poe stories just to be able to compare.
I liked how there didn’t seem to be any rules that the author followed while he updated these classic tales. It was just madness that flowed perfectly. Some of the tales are better than others, both as the classic story and as the updated rendition. The random things that pop up in each story are so bizarre I have to wonder what goes on in the mind of the author on a daily basis. The ending was great and really wrapped up the entire story.
David Dear does a great job with the narration. It takes a specific voice to be able to present this crazy story and David has it. His character voices, inflection, and overall presentation are perfectly paired with this book. It really sounded like David had as much fun voicing this story as the author did writing it. I’ve heard David before and this type of book is really where he shines. Hope to hear more.

E is for Eyeball

Controlled Madness... Marc Richard puts his own twist on the Edgar Allan Poe short stories. Definitely not meant for the children to listen to!

Creative and funny outlook on Classic Literature

If you like your Humor below the belt and a bit absurd and very mean then you may enjoy this book.

The Narrator kept the listeners interest and the constant kooky Humor tolerable.

*Insert Edgar Allen Poe-related pun here*

Madness. Absolute madness. However, once you recall that these stories are all adapted from Edgar Allen Poe's works, you start to understand the bizarre narrative being told here.

It took some time to get used to the narrator's tone, but it certainly grew on me. Although, part of that may just be the fact that the narrator must voice the monologues of a complete and utter jerk. Our protagonist is certainly no hero, that's evident from the very first story.
