Publisher's Summary

Collins Italian with Paul Noble combines an exciting, new, non-traditional approach to language learning with the easy, relaxed appeal of an audio-only product. No books. No rote memorisation. No chance of failure.

Paul Noble is a genius with a higher IQ than Einstein. Despite this, he still struggled with language learning at school. He found himself feeling ‘confused, incapable and unable to really say anything.’ As a result of his negative early experiences, Paul has come up with a ground-breaking new method of language teaching that removes the need for months of study. With Paul Noble, everyone really can speak a language.

Part 2 of the course covers:

  • Asking for directions
  • Verb revision
  • Travelling by bus and train
  • Introducing and talking about yourself

A native-speaking Italian expert helps Paul to deliver the course and to perfect your pronunciation. No complicated grammatical explanations, no writing - no stress. Learn over 6,000 words in no time at all and - most importantly - learn how to make your new vocabulary work for you. (Use the accompanying booklet as a reference and revision tool.)

I would prefer more advanced material but this is great for someone who can't get the hang of the basics.

Fabulous!!

I've tried just about every way out there to learn Italian, including studying the language in college and even living in Italy for a few months. I learned a lot of the technicalities but couldn't get to the point I was comfortable putting it all together. This system is by far the best I've ever tried and is finally getting me where I wanted to be. He gives simple, practical direction on verb conjugations and you learn quickly. I'm onto level four now and feel like I'm finally putting the language together after just two weeks listening to this system on my commute to work. I'm more comfortable speaking than ever before, and just so happy I found this. Fabulous language system at a fabulous price!

Not a Level Two learning experience. Not good

Would you try another book from Paul Noble and/or Paul Noble?

No. This was presented as something more advanced. This level two was still extremely basic and not worth the money. AND not returnable. Just look for podacasts.

Has Collins Italian with Paul Noble - Learn Italian the Natural Way, Part 2 turned you off from other books in this genre?

Only Paul Noble. Waste of money. Ripped OFF!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

N/A

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

OK for absolute beginners but definitely NOT a level 2 experience! Ripped OFF!

Great concept!!!

I started learnt Italian on my own two months ago. I found this boos series and it has greatly improved my spoken Italian and my recall. Also the easy tricks for so many Italian words and constructions. I don’t say tomato the way he does but I certainly know what he is talking about.

Perfecto!

Rather than the dry memorizations and conjugations required in high school language classes Paul makes it fun. Most importantly, you learn very practical words and phrases. It is all brilliantly put together like LEGO blocks so you actually build your learning by putting small linguistic pieces together one piece at a time.

Most logical language program ever!

This is a sensible, easy to follow and the best way to learn to create sentences in a new language. I use it in the car, in the house while doing chores and even sometimes to put me to sleep (hoping it teaches while I sleep, (I can put it in sleep mode to turn off after an hour.) For the 1st time ever I understand the dreaded conjugation of most verbs, how to understand directions, and greatly improved my vocabulary. Worth a download on your phone, iPad and/or computer but the phone is always ready to teach you what you want to know wherever you happen to be. I highly recommend this program and hope they issue a fourth audio book!

The best teacher I’ve had

I have studied Italian over the years and this program has been my favorite. Paul Noble makes it truly “natural” in the way he teaches. He makes it easy to understand and easy to communicate in Italian. A must try if you want to pick up Italian quickly and easily!

Great introduction to the language

I found this a great introduction to the language. Repetitive - but that's the point. It helps you to build up vocabulary and use it to make sentences, rather than just learning a set of possibly useful phrases you might need if you are on holiday. It gave the basic knowledge and understanding of how Italian works and gave me the confidence to try some more comprehensive language courses and build on the grammar.

good intro to the basics.

I have completed 1&2 and there's no doubt you learn what is taught. However I have completed all Michel Thomas Italian courses and I feel there is far more content with Michel that is probably due to Paul's avid approach to reinforcement and repetition. Both teaching styles are similar but to someone completely new to Italian and who has struggled with language learning in the past then Paul Noble is the best option he really has simplified learning a language.

One step further!

I have just listened to the second part of Paul Noble's course in Italian, and by now I find myself speaking whole sentences in Italian! It's amazing how quickly you learn by using this series, and although it is very basic, it gives you a great understanding of how the language is constructed…or at least some of it.

I've been through book 1 and 2 twice now, and am half way through the 3rd. It is getting progressively more difficult, but not unmanageable. I love how he mainly focuses on the grammar and less on the vocabulary, but new words are often introduced and are relatively easy to remember as you are constantly being reminded of them.

I doubt I will ever become fluent in Italian, but it is great being able to pick out words and sentences when watching italian movies, or reading italian news online. And as for my upcoming holiday, I can't wait to test out my skills! :-D

For me, an excellent way to learn.

In my own time and repeating as I need. Some people may find the repetition boring.

Too short

I did like the constant repetition as it helps it to sink in. However it seems very short and not enough phrases of real situations one might encounter as a visitor. A bit disappointing for a whole credit.

A step up from Level 1 and still manageable

Any additional comments?

It feels like a big step up from Level one at first but still follows a logical progression and repeating sections helps me to remember more. There is a big review section from Level one and I found words and phrases just started to come naturally. I am really enjoying learning Italian this way.

the next best thing to being immersed in Italia

I think immersion is the best way to learn langues for life, but who can afford to live in a country for a few months every time they want to learn a language?
This audio course is the next best thing, providing a virtual immersion style learning environment you can listen to anywhere and anytime you like...I learnt while on the bus to work.
