Great read and awesome narration..

This had a good murder mystery but there were pages and pages of 3 long sex scenes and one short one, which is a little too much for any murder mystery. It’s what I’d expect in an erotic book, because they are all about sex with very little story-line. That’s why it was 284 (or 427 according to Amazon.) pages, too many pages taken up with sex, IMO. Some authors are not familiar with the phrase “less is more.” I like sex in my books, but this was just too much.

Anyway, it was nice seeing Lincoln Frazer and computer genius Alex Parker and his very pregnant wife Mallory Rooney, three great characters from Cold Justice series, ten awesome books and I’ve read all of them.

I did like SSA Special Agent Dominic Sheridan and Ava Kanas. He was drop-dead gorgeous, and she was beautiful, just like I like my MC’s to be. He is an FBI Crises Negotiator and she was a rookie FBI agent. They were looking into several FBI agents having been killed in what was supposed to be accidents, but wasn’t.

Ava was 26 and Dominic was 35, and the age difference did bother him, but not enough to keeping him from having sex with her. LOL

I was surprised at who the baddie was.

Too much sex and the F-bomb was used 53 times.

As to the narration: Eric G. Dove always does such a great job, on the voices as well as his emotions when he reads.

Fantastic ❣️ ❣️❣️

I love all of Toni Anderson's books. She's right up there with Nora Roberts, Maya Banks and Marie Force. Cold and Deadly was magnifying written with lots is twists and turns. I also liked that we got to revisit some of her original characters from the beginning of the series. Can't wait for the next one!!!

It get's better and better!

Toni Anderson has given us another well-written, entertaining FBI story!

This whole series has gotten better and better with each new addition. This story gives us FBI Supervisory Special Agent Dominic Sheridan, and like all the other characters we've met along the way, he is a total badass! He is part of the negotiation unit and is very cool under pressure. His being "cool" and "not" hot-headed almost makes him lose the love of his life before he has the chance to really get to know her.

Our female lead is quick to jump into any situation before thinking things through to the end. This put's not only her life in danger but that of her family and friends. Her quick nature also helps her realize that something does not add up with the recent suicide of her mentor and friend. Good thing Dom and his fellow bad-asses are there to help her when it is greatly needed.

All in all, the story is well-written and holds your attention until the end. There is just the right amount of action and quite a nice little twist with some of the things that happen along the way. Wow, you never know what another person is capable of, or just what someone will do in the name of love!

If you've enjoyed the series from the beginning, this is one to add to your collection. Worth a credit all the way!

Anderson lights a bonfire in hot new spinof series

Sometimes successful series lose their momentum as the author runs out of ideas, but Toni Anderson just picked up steam from her Cold Justice series of FBI agents and opened a new window into the nail-biting action of hostage negotiators. One of the refreshing things about her suspense novels is the research she does, the fast pacing of the mystery, the realism of the romance and the interesting characters she draws--each unique. I especially liked the heroine Ava and how Anderson resolved Ava's and Dominic's internal struggles.
Unlike so many romance writers AND romantic suspense writers, Anderson doesn't create the drama around the female doing something stupid to allow the man to be the "hero" and rescue her from her folly. Often, writers will elevate the male's "greatness" (or his "fitness") by making him rescue or save a female after she does something stupid, wanders into a situation alone and forgoes backup or other such mistakes. Anderson doesn't do that, and her heroines in the Cold Justice and this new Crossfire Series are talented, respected, kick-ass and take charge women. The guys are good partners to the women we want to be (but not necessary to save the girl from her mistakes) and salt-of-the-earth men. Its a refreshing change and will keep you up all nite unable to turn it off.
After listening to some really poorly narrated audiobooks lately, I have a renewed appreciation for the talents of Eric G Dove's narration here. He keeps the characters separate, does a reasonable job with accents, but does a believable male and female voice so that you can just relax into the story immediately, understand who is speaking instead of constantly being aware of the narrator and focusing on mispronunciations, weird pauses, stilted diction etc. Love the narration. Thanks Mr. Dove! Thanks Ms Anderson for another great read/listen that will be even better the second and third listening.

Good Book and Narration!

I really enjoyed the entire Cold Justice Series, so when I saw this new Crossfire spin off series came out I was excited.

I liked this book and the characters very much, Ava and Dominic were great together. I like that he was a hostage negotiator, that was different. She was a rookie FBI agent. They did have some good chemistry but there was way too much sex scenes. Part of the reason I loved the Cold Justice series was because it wasn't completely filled with sex scenes there was more story to them, especially in the early books. Come on Toni Anderson, you don't have to be Lauren Blakely and put more sex than story in your books. You were doing just fine before.

The story line and plot was good. There was a murder, mystery, surprises, and twists.

As for the narration, well its Eric Dove so it was amazing! He is an awesome narrator. The women sound like women, everyone gets their own distinct voice and he reads with emotion. He has an awesome sexy reading voice too.

Cold Justice Series

Once I started the series, I couldn’t stop. I grieved when I finished the last book. Series had the right balance of thriller/suspense to romance ratio. I’ll listen to this series again.

Excellent start to a new series

I love books by this author as there is no need to read the books in order, or to follow the series, to be able to enjoy them. Although there are common threads and characters running through the books, it is not necessary to know them, or understand them to enjoy each successive book.

That said, I did struggle with the female lead in this book. She acted without thinking and because of this made a very unconvincing FBI agent. It quickly made me lose respect for her, as she never seemed to develop or learn from her mistakes. This unfortunately made the romance unconvincing, especially when their relationship became sexual at a highly inappropriate time during a tense hostage negotiation. It was also irritating that, as a supposedly fit and competent FBI agent, on two different occasions while chasing/being chased by the bad guy, she 'tripped over', thereby putting herself in danger and having to be saved by her new boyfriend.

fbi romance with a story

If you have read any of Toni Anderson’s stories you will know what to expect. Action and romance!

This story is no different.

It starts with the meeting of two agents, one a rookie and one an established officer, over grave of a third, a sniper attack and another death. It develops from there.

Another good book from author and narrator.

Action packed suspense!

WOW! 5 Hot stars for Cold & Deadly and first of Toni's new Cold Justice: Crossfire series.
This story has all the elements you come to expect from Toni, it's a suspense/thriller, action packed and has tonnes of hot testosterone loaded FBI agents in it LOL and one in particular, Supervisory Special Agent, Dominic Sheridan, a 35 year old Crisis Negotiator. This guy seriously packs some heat and I'm not just talking about his weaponry! He's cool, calm and collected in every situation, he knows what he's doing, until he comes across a rookie FBI Agent, Ava Kanas, head strong, loner, just learning the ropes and not playing the FBI team game, which only gets her into more trouble than she is looking for.
This story line is so engaging, I did not want to put it down. These two agents are brought together because of a tragic end to a mutual colleague and friend, from there, the plot thickens and does not slow down until after the nail biting climax.
One other enormous attraction about this story is that there is heavy involvement from two other favourite characters from the Cold Justice series and you get a first hand update on their life together, it is awesome!!
Can't gloat enough about this one, an excellent read and the audio narration, as always is fantastic! I cannot wait for the next book!!
