Publisher's summary

Will was once a truck driver. When he was on Earth, his days were spent alone, traveling the highways for months until he went home to see his wife and family. Then Space Trucking became the new thing, and they didn't want pilots. They wanted men like him: the ones who were used to the isolation.

Now after six years, Will has had his first break down, but this isn't a semi and there's no such thing as roadside assistance. When you break down in space, all that remains are the Cold Days....

In space, nobody can see you die

I have to say that if I was stuck in space this would be exactly my story. I’m not a deadbeat, but would have only one thought. The darkness of this story comes from both the plot and the character. A trucker in space alone in the cold has a brief time to think about his life. Listening to the thoughts of someone on the verge of dying is always sad and depressing. This one can hit you hard if you are a family man.
While this is book two in the series it stands alone. I haven’t listened to book one and didn’t seem to miss anything. This narrator also didn’t do book one so that could change things up for those wanting to listen to book one after listening to this or starting from book one. The length of this was perfect, no need to make this longer and while I’m hopeful for another book I assume it would also be stand alone.
Rick Gregory is a top narrator for me and I appreciated his narration for this. Since this is mostly all in third person we only get Gregory’s narrator voice and not any of his typical character voices. Totally makes the story bleaker, not because of his voice, but because we don’t get Gregory’s usual excitement in his character voices. I felt like he read this story as it was meant to be heard.

overall a decent short story

the narration was good. enjoyed his voice and style. The story itself took me a little bit to get into. but when I finally did it was just about over. When have preferred if it hadn't been quite as short as it was. over all I would recommend this book to anyone that want a quick listen.
