Searching for the truth just turned deadly.
Disgraced investigative journalist Pip West is devastated when she discovers her best friend’s body facedown in a tranquil lake. When cops and federal agents determine her friend overdosed and then drowned, Pip knows they’re mistaken and intends to prove it.
Special Agent Hunt Kincaid doesn’t trust journalists and has no patience for Pip’s delusions, especially since her meddling could reveal why the FBI is interested in her friend’s last days. The dead scientist worked at the cutting edge of vaccine research and might have a connection to a new, weaponized, vaccine-resistant anthrax strain that just hit the black market.
Pip is thrown off her game by grief and her unexpected attraction to the handsome federal agent. Hunt battles the same unwelcome pull, determined to resist the heat that threatens to consume them both. But the more Pip digs, the closer she gets to both the sexy FBI agent and to a bioweapons terrorist who’s more than capable of cold-bloodedly sacrificing anyone who gets in his way.

Since I’ve been reading murder mysteries with no romance this book seemed full of it. However, it was a good story about weaponized anthrax and the people who were killed because they knew about it and could identify the bad guys. One of them was Cindy, a genius who came up with an antidote for it, and was killed just before he best friend, Pip West, showed up and found her dead in the lake by her house, and Pip’s belief that Cindy’s death was murder and not an accident, as the police and FBI were saying.
Our hero, Hunt Kincaid, was looking into the anthrax that was stolen from a lab but couldn’t tell Pip for fear it would get out and there would be a panic, Pip was a journalist, after all. So, he kept his secrets and over a week’s time the two fell in love. Yeah, a little too insta-love for me and a little to angsty at times, from both of them.
There was explicit sex in this and the F-bomb was used 39 times.
As to the narration: Eric G. Dove always gives a wonderful performance. He’s one of my top 5 favorite male narrators because he does such an awesome job on both the male and females voices and his emotions while reading.
Great book and awesome narration..

This one actually surprised me in a good way. I’m usually a bit aloof to stories described in the way that it is (“The journalist looking for the truth and the FBI agent who wants her to stop”), but it doesn’t seem as representative as I thought this time. This one is, overall, about two professionals who are being human.
I myself have watched “Castle” and am getting caught on to “Bones”. If you are in a similar viewing segment, this book might be for you.
The narrator seems to be overdoing it somewhat (think Jack McFarland’s “This is how an announcer talks!” in “Will & Grace”), but that can generally be ignored.
When neither the journalist nor the agent stopped...

Dove was easy to listen to and did great with differentiating the characters.
I look forward to listening to more of Anderson and Rove's work.
*I received a free credit for this audio from the author, but this is my honest review.
Good Mystery/Romance balance
