Publisher's Summary

Jim Hawkins, a young cabin boy battles the pirate Long John Silver for a buried treasure. One of the most frequently dramatized novels of all time. The influence of Treasure Island on popular perceptions of pirates is enormous, including treasure maps marked with an "X", schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen carrying parrots on their shoulders.

Unfortunate

This reader did not do the book justice. Boring and lifeless. Not what you want at all in an Audubon book!

Boring

The story is a classic but the narration is anything but. The monotone delivery put me to sleep.

A classic for kids

Well I just don't enjoy the story or the narration very much and would say that it's most likely suited for a 12 yr old from the 50's to try enjoy. I could be wrong perhaps adults would still enjoy if they came from a simpler time.

The narrator is simply not good

The story is classic and great as always but the reader makes sudden pauses in midsentence.

Horrible voice

we could barely understand the narrator. Had to turn it off before the first chapter ended. I didn't listen to a sample first. Big mistake!

Bad narration

I have to agree with other reviews saying that the narrator was not good. Very monotonous and boring.

Great story

This is a great book which I have read enough times that I don't remember. I think that Long John Silver is amongst the best characters ever contrived. The reader of this book obviously takes pleasure in the reading; however, a couple of his characterizations sounded indiscernible from one another. He did a fine job with the others.
