Dickens-esc.

Well written and passionate. A classic.

Makes me want to read Willa Cather and Sarah Waters again.

excellent reading

I had read this book years ago. It's still exceptional reading for any age or reason.

Tired

This book was 10 hours longer than it needed to be. I forced myself to listen to it, and again and again I would put it down. I finally finished it, and sadly I would never want to read from this author again. There were a few interesting parts, but just to long to describe what was a on going insecurity. I’m exhausted and not sure what happened at the end. But trust I will not go back.

Too long and too boring

Narrator was excellent. The book was way too long, way too many details that did not enhance the story at all. I would have stopped reading it except for the fact that it was my book club's choice. I definitely do not recommend it.

Meh.

I tried so hard to get through this. So slow and boring I could not finish.
