Good but short

very interesting to hear the original literary version of the movie. It was much shorter than I anticipated and it looks like the movie took many Liberties in the finishing of the story.

Caption Kirk the Time Traveler

I like this book and I was very excited when I saw this book for 99 cents. I thought I would listen to it on my way home from work. The reader has a nice voice and does characters well, however, I couldn't get over his weird pausing. He seems to not understand basic punctuations and attempts to add his own very poorly. I tried for about an hour but couldn't make it through. It's an unbeatable price and if you really like the book, you may be able to get past it, but for me, it was not worth it.

The narrator is a great sleeping tonic!

Any additional comments?

I almost fell asleep listening to this one. It is a good thing I was not driving. I love H.G. Wells what a shame.

Good story

I read a few reviews about the narrator being bad and I do not agree. While he is no Scott Brick, I thought he did a nice job on a good story that was well written. I got this title for less than a dollar so it would be hard for me to bash for the price

Having read the book before I like the story. the descriptions alway get to me.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

bad pacing, stops and starts, monotone, boring.

Interisting

I finally got around to reading this classic and it was a delightful read. The story was different from what I expected. But nevertheless good.

Not like the movie version I remember, it's good.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Time Machine to be better than the print version?

No, but it's definitely better than the movie version with Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimieux. It's much more a view of elitism and workers and the evolution of two separate species of man because of that.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Time Machine?

When the Time Traveler figures out that his initial views are wrong about the Eloi and the Underground apes. Mr. Wells was quite a socialist in his views of right and wrong. I enjoyed his take on what the future could hold for us all.

What does Alan Munro bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can do my housework while I listen. I love all audible books because of that fact.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Time enough, or time will tell.

Any additional comments?

This book was an excellent bargain at $.49 on audible. It's a quick listen and a classic story. What else could you ask for?

Great story - horrible narrator

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No - The narrator destroyed it for me. He apparently went to the William Shantner School for Nonsensical Pauses. I eventually just quit listening.

worth a listen

I have no qualms in saying that the subtleties that make this work a classic are wasted on me. however, I found the story never quite that interesting in a climactic sense. it was more like reading a modern take on the books of Solomon, "all is vanity".

the narrator is not the worst I've ever heard but I was wondering if it was an automation at some point.

I don't consider my time to have been wasted as I enjoyed the philosophical insights interesting. like I said above, it's worth a listen
