Editorial Reviews

If the stories of Sherlock Holmes are simply to provide you a nostalgic journey, a different performance would do well. If, however, you want Holmes and the intrepid Dr. Watson to come alive, Walter Covell, the performer of this audiobook, is your man.

The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of stories about the great detective and features "Silver Blaze", "The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual", "Gloria Scott", and more. This audiobook presentation of Holmes’ stories are not immaculately recorded, but they are indeed immaculately performed. Let Covell illuminate arguably the greatest deductive crime fighter of all time.

Publisher's Summary

The original collection of these stories, published in 1994 in England, did not include "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box" because it was considered "too shocking". It was later added to the first American edition.

Other stories included are:"Silver Blaze""The Yellow Face" "The Stockbroker's Clerk""The 'Gloria Scott'""The Musgrave Ritual""The Reigate Squire" "The Crooked Man" "The Resident Patient""The Greek Interpreter""The Naval Treaty""The Final Problem"

The Voicing of Dr Watson irritating --I Cannot Recommend this One

Did not go post the first story. Stories not in order and the voicing of Dr. Watson most irritating. I will purchase another version of this Sherlock Holmes book.

Narrator Issue

Poor narration made listening to these classics impossible.

Narration poor

I love Sherlock Holmes stories, but could not bear the narrator's voicing for Dr. Watson, and, after several attempts, deleted the book without listening to more than the first fifteen minutes. I wish I had listened to the audio sample first.
