First published as a pamphlet in 1850 in response to the socialist-communist plans and ideas being adopted in France at that time, The Law remains equally relevant today, as the same ideas are now sweeping America.

A Truly Excellent Book!

Frederic Bastiat's "The Law", is a supremely classic philosophic view of law! Furthermore, Bernard Mayes was superb in his reading of it! I highly recommend this audiobook.

Timeless classic

Even though there are those who say history does not repeat itself, there are similar ideals that do. The events that took place in France in the 19th century and is written by someone who defends individual freedoms.

timeless

It's amazing how true Frederic's words ring today. Published in 1850, but could have been published this year.

I can really see why people have been talking about this book... for more than 170 years!

This is my first time reading “The Law” and I was very impressed by the conciseness of Frederic Bastiat’s writing. The book is short and fairly easy to read, while presenting the reader with some very dense content.

Perhaps the life span of this book has persisted because you can understand it and relate to its content on a single reading, but there is plenty to contemplate upon subsequent readings. Even though “The Law” is more than 170 years old, the concepts are still as applicable today as I they were when they were written.

I am definitely going to be rereading “The Law” sometime soon, because there was so much of it that I want to retain. It’s one of those rare books that felt like I could have highlighted and underlined the entire thing.

Basediat

Bastiat? More like 'Basediat!'

It is no wonder why so many liberty minded titans throughout recent history have shamelessly plundered this mans ideas.

We are being plundered!!!

OMG. I will listen to this book many more times. Even though it’s 100 years old, it’s very relevant in today’s world. I feel smarter having read this book. To better understand this world, read this book!

it's all there since 1850

Now I know where Ayn Rand got her ideas.
Needs and updated reader though.
