Publisher's Summary

A haunting, magical fairy tale collection, in which Oscar Wilde beautifully evokes (amongst others) 'The Happy Prince', who was not so happy after all; 'The Selfish Giant', who learned to love little children; and 'The Star Child', who did not love his parents as much as he should.

Magical listening for young and old, narrated by John Moffatt.

I liked it.

If you could sum up The Happy Prince and Other Stories in three words, what would they be?

Touching, useful, interesting

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Happy Prince and Other Stories?

The death of the devoted friend.

What does John Moffatt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I am studying English. So for me it was pronansiation and rhythm.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Friendship

Lovely stories, absolutely beautifully performed.

This audiobook is meant for children, however adults will love it too, it made me literally cry ( in a good way) in several places, the writing is just so beautiful. John Moffat is a favourite of mine (poirot) and it was lovely to hear him present something other than an Agatha Christie.

His voice and tone are perfect and he sounds like he enjoyed the telling of the stories himself! Really charming and absolutely beautifully done.

Loved it, loved it , loved it. The nightingale story was also listened to by my husband and he said he felt incredibly moved by it even though he's a sci-fi fan!

( NB:Not very pc ( last story) but of its time and actually quite illuminating in a historical sense of how things were viewed when this was written- could bring interesting discussions with older children)

Enjoy with a candle by your bed... Night night zzzz😴
