Love Georgette Heyer!! This was a great book with wonderful characters! A very fun listen.

Sian Phillips did a great job narrating. Would listen to her again.

Heyer is amazing

The performance was outstanding. Sian Phillips nailed it. Don't listen in public if you don't want people staring as you burst out laughing.

Georgette Heyer at her best!

This story was full of twists and turns and plenty of humor! It was very well performed and I will listen to it again and again!
Unfortunately it has some glitches that should be taken care of but that is all the negative I can find.

Funny and Sweet

This was quite entertaining. The narrator is perfect for this story and she did an excellent job with the various voices, adding emotions to the characters. I recommend the Audible edition of this book. I don't think I would have enjoyed it half as much simply reading it.

My first Georgette Heyer read

I've heard that Georgette Heyer is similar to Jane Austen, which is why I've since purchased several Heyer books when they were on sale. This is the first I have read/listened to. I loved it. It reminded me of Sense and Sensibility but was funnier and less tragic. If you like Jane Austen, I recommend Heyer. However, I have also read that Heyer books are very clean. This is true, but there's a lot of sexual innuendo in this particular book, with references to "natural" siblings, mistresses and petticoat lines. The narrator was outstanding. I'm almost afraid to listen to a Heyer book that is NOT read by Sian Phillips. It was PERFECT. She reminds me of Juliet Stephenson.

Highly recommended to traditional Regency fans and fans of Jane Austen.

Fun, sweet, rollicking romance

This is a lovely, happy, comedic romance, filled with protagonists I'd enjoying knowing personally. It's a book to read when you want to relax and leave your problems and stresses somewhere else.

A little gem, a pleasant surprise

What made the experience of listening to Sprig Muslin the most enjoyable?

Most people don't think this book is the author's best one but I fall in love with the young, unpredictable protagonist. She is lively, loyal to her love, brave and resourceful. Georgette Heyer's women characters are all strong but this seemingly spoiled young brat gives me the most joy.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It has to be the runaway young Amanda. You can't like the book without liking her.

Which character – as performed by Sian Phillips – was your favorite?

The young brat Amanda!

If you could take any character from Sprig Muslin out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Lady Hester. As much as I like Amanda, a quiet and considerate dinner companion is better.

Excellent book

I have started this book several times over many years. Finally got it on audio, and listen to it while taking a road trip. Still took me a while to get into it, but by the end realized that it is one of my favorite books by Heyer.
