Publisher's Summary

In Persuasion, Austen's last novel, she reveals a tale of love and marriage told with irony, insight, and an evaluation of human conduct. The characters, Captain Wentworth and Anne Elliot, have met and separated years before. A reunion forces the recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

wonderful performance

What did you love best about Persuasion?

What is not to like about Jane Austin?

What about Greta Scacchi’s performance did you like?

Because of some of the early wording, this is a bit tough to read but Greta Scacchi does it expertly.

Enjoyable listen

Have read Persuasion more than a few times, but as a Jane Austen fan, it was time for me to read again. Thought I would listen instead, if I could find a reader I thought I could enjoy. Greta Scacchi did a wonderful job. She understands Persuasion and how to read Jane.

unexpected delight

I had to read this book for school and was, quite honestly, not really looking forward to reading Austen. However, this audiovook experience was quite delightful! I will most certainly be listening to more Austen in audio book form!

Excellently Narrated

Excellently narrated. Strongly look forward to purchasing more audiobooks narrated by Ms. Scacchi. As an actress she emblems each character with a unique life force that makes for wonderful listening. BRAVO.

Good story great reader

Would you listen to Persuasion again? Why?

I listened to the previews of all the versions of Persuasion and I am so glad I went with Greta. She read this story very well. I wish she had more books. The story itself is very good, being Jane Austen and it is made even more enjoyable by the reader.

What about Greta Scacchi’s performance did you like?

She does a great job with inflection and changes her voice to suite the characters in a nice consistent way.

I would not recommend this book..I found it very slow moving.

What could Jane Austen have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I dont think anything...Just not my type of read!!!!!!

Would you listen to another book narrated by Greta Scacchi?

Probably not

Do you think Persuasion needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No

One of my favourites

Any additional comments?

I don't think I need to say anything about the book or it's author except it is a classic and one of my favourite Austen novels. Greta Scacchi is absolutely wonderful with very distinct voices for all the characters. "The Letter" is still one of the most beautiful things ever written. Enjoy!

A classic treated with great respect

A truly memorable performance of one of my very favourite books. Characters brought to life without over-dramatising the excentricities- I know I will be listening to this one again. Thanks Greta
