Take a bow, Mr. Jarvis, take a bow!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. Let's face it, the only reason why you'd get this audiobook would be because of the narration. And boy does Mr. Jarvis nail the narration! I would rate this as highly as Fry and Laurie's depiction of Jeeves and Wooster.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Let me say Wooster for a change. Jeeves gets too much love anyway.

What about Martin Jarvis’s performance did you like?

Martin Jarvis is amazing. And yes, even though that is a cliched word, I really don't think anything else can describe how absolutely perfect his narration is.

Any additional comments?

Jarvis does justice to the comic genius of Wodehouse. It's as if Wodehouse was narrating this!

Terrific series

This was my first introduction to Jeeves and Bertie Wooster and I was extremely pleased. They are a humorous pair with Jeeves in the role of straightman and Bertie as the one who needs bailing out frequently. I enjoyed Martin Jarvis portrayal of both characters and found the recording well made. An excellent place to start if you want to try a novel by PG Wodehouse!

The narrator was excellent.

What did you like best about this story?

I was quickly immersed in the story, forgetting that a single narrator was providing all the voices. The voices were well chosen for the characters.

Entertaining

An enjoyable listen. If you can relate to the writing style common to pulp fiction at the turn of the century (19th to 20th that is), and if you have a minimal tolerance for the humor of British stodginess, you'll likely love this book. Not being familiar with Wodehouse, I had naively assumed this book would be a "classic literature" type, and was all set for something in the line of Thomas Hardy or Dickens---so this was a surprise. Having admitted such, I must add that it was a most enjoyable surprise, and a nice break from the list of more serious works I've been undertaking. The reading was excellent.

Absolutely hilarious, Don't ya know?

Where does Carry On, Jeeves rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely one of my favourites, I've listened to each story at least twice.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bertie AND Jeeves, can't have one without the other.

Any additional comments?

Jarvis is the best narrator I have heard thus far. I had trouble switching to Hugh Laurie and Steven Fry's interpretation after hearing Jarvis, but now I love them both. I love that Jarvis gives Bertie an older yet still immature and boyish character. He switches between characters so smoothly you can't believe it's him narrating on his own!

Great light-hearted listen.

These Jeeves stories are great. The reader is not quite as good as J. Cecil, but is still passable.
