Publisher's Summary

Here is the classic dystopian novel by George Orwell. First published in 1949, it is set in the eponymous year and focuses on a repressive, totalitarian regime. The story follows the life of one seemingly insignificant man, Winston Smith, a civil servant assigned the task of perpetuating the regime's propaganda by falsifying records and political literature. Smith grows disillusioned with his meager existence and so begins a rebellion against the system that leads to his arrest and torture.

This is one of the classic Radio Theatre Productions you will want to listen to over and over again!

retro orwell 1984

horrible quality. the version leaves out much of the original work. I don't think I would understand what was going on in this if I had not done the reading beforehand. I would not reccomend spending money on this as it does not help much.

Could not evaluate.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Very Poor recording from the original master

How could the performance have been better?

Digital re-mastering of the original.

Any additional comments?

I would come back and get it if there was a better version available.
