Story
It's a story you think you know: the age-old tale of "star-cross'd lovers"; two families at war; a romance, so pure and absolute, fated for a tragic end. It's a story so thoroughly embedded in our culture, and so frequently retold. Yet, nothing captures the spark, the possibility, and the surprise of Shakespeare's work quite like this....

Story
It is a tale of ghosts, of madness, of revenge - of old alliances giving way to new intrigues. Denmark is changing, shaking off its medieval past. War with Norway is on the horizon. And Hamlet - son of the old king, nephew of the new - becomes increasingly entangled in a web of deception - and murder. Beautifully performed by actor Richard Armitage ("Thorin Oakenshield" in the Hobbit films), Hamlet, Prince of Denmark takes Shakespeare’s original into unexpected realms, reinventing a story we thought we knew.

One hundred and fifty years ago, Chawton was the final home of Jane Austen, one of England's finest novelists. Now, it's home to a few distant relatives and their diminishing estate. With the last bit of Austen's legacy threatened, a group of disparate individuals come together to preserve both Jane Austen's home and her legacy. These people - a laborer, a young widow, the local doctor, and a movie star, among others - could not be more different and yet they are united in their love for the works and words of Austen.

They say Paris is always a good idea.... You know what I say? Paris would be a much better idea if I spoke the dang language. I can't even board the metro to visit the Louvre without ending up at the Moulin Rouge, and let's not even mention how I'll ever make it through a day at my new office. Fortunately my company hooks me up with my own personal translator. Ooh la la. Or should I say bloody hell? Because he's charming, witty, and British, and he brings the city to life for me.

Sir John Penlyon is planning to spend Christmas at his estate with his niece and his friend Danby, the closest thing he has to family since disowning his daughter years ago. (She eloped with the parson, who was, of course, penniless.) Danby suggests that at Christmastime the estate needs the presence of small children, and offers to find some - the “hirelings” - despite Sir John’s skepticism. Three children duly arrive, and the youngest, precocious four year-old Moppet, quickly endears herself to Sir John.

This is such a treat! Richard Armitage's liquid baritone hits all the right notes. You'll find yourself listening to the poems repeatedly, anticipating that slight inflection or pause that makes all the difference. I loved the Emerson poem best, but they are all a gift. Perfect Voice
Richard Armitage reads love poems with a voice like a goblet of Merlot poured from a thick glass decanter waiting next to crimson rose petals scattered across a chenille duvet over down and crisp linen laid out smooth on the feather bed with the maroon velvet bed curtains held back with but the loosest of ties.

Beautiful Poems, Balm For The Soul.
What made the experience of listening to FREE: Classic Love Poems the most enjoyable?
The selection of poems was fantastic and just right for the run-up to Valentines Day. There were poems that I had never heard plus some old, dear favourites. The subject matter made me stop working and really listen to the words. It was, therefore, very relaxing and uplifting. A real oasis of calm in the middle of a busy day.
What about Richard Armitage’s performance did you like?
His voice is mesmerising, like melted chocolate or a glass of really good red wine. It allows me to drift off into another world, stress-free and calm, deeply satisfying. His diction is wonderful and the timbre is deep and sympathetic, romantic and full of expression. It is balm for the soul.He could read a shopping list and it would sound wonderful!
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Get ready to be romanced.

Richard Armitage's voice is quite lovely and he is extremely eloquent. However I don't like the bible being quoted in here, I have come to realise that is not love and that quote is more of a threat than a love poem! It's also only 22 minutes long. 🤔
