Great story, not so great narration.

I loved the story. I also love the author's writing style. My only gripe was the narration. I felt like i was listening to poetry not a story, mostly when the character Camino speaks. It didn't sound natural.

Summary

This book is a 5 star read. Much family love, hate, jealously, happiness and sadness told in the greatest form.

Beautiful StoryI

I loved the story. it wasn't predictable. Someone said it was a story about death, but it wasn't. It was a story about life as seen in other non-white communities. It was beautifully narrated and written. I truly enjoyed it.

Great Story!!

I loved how the story was built like a poem unraveling it’s self. I wish the book was longer though. Other than that it’s an amazing and beautiful story.

Beautiful Storh

This was a beautiful story with two perspectives and experiences coming together seamlessly. I recommend to everyone who is willing to go through their emotions, address their judgements and find love even in the stickiest of places.

Clap when you land

I listened to this book in one sitting. As a fellow Latina I could relate to a lot of the things in this book. Acevedo held my attention throughout the whole book. As a little girl flying to Puerto Rico I remember everyone always clapping when we landed and it always filled my heart with so much joy.
