Publisher's Summary

No maze, no zombies, no games

Luke has finally returned and, with the aid of Colonel Randall's settlement, Isaac and their group get busy making a bigger and better home for themselves in Manchester. Everything points to them living "happily ever after", but rumors of a hostile army in the west are soon proven true.

The army is led by the last president's son and they are as ruthless as the rumors said. Will Isaac, Luke and co have to take up arms again? And if so, will this be the battle that decides once and for all, who lives and who dies?

Again, solid piece of work & great 6th installment

Great Job Scott Medbury! You're doing this genre right. It's a busy literary niche right now (post-apocalypse) but you're making your story relevant and unique with this ongoing tale.

I like that this story starts off with the backstory of President Riley. There wasn't a huge unfolding of all his history but enough to give you the foundation of his motivation, after the fall of America. I like that Medbury straddles a line for a minute making you feel feelings about Aiden and his circumstances but also not enough to sway your feelings from Isaac and Luke's and Colonel Randall's groups. A clear line has been drawn between good and bad I believe.

I think we might also get a bit of foreshadowing for book 7 with the random attack on the mustang too!!! Hmmmm.

There WERE a few instances where I was feeling a little "C'mon, reallllyyyy?!" where Luke was more concerned with the dating prospects rather than battle or his daughter but I guess we have to remember they're still 21 after all.

At about 20min left to the book I was worried about how it'd get wrapped up in that short amount of time but I think Medbury cleaned it up nicely and hastened the epilogue like you do when a story is over, but I heard that there's another book coming so I guess we'll see if there's any overlap between characters and plots with the new story or if its just a parallel tale.

Again, he does great NOT boring his audience to death with a huge recap of previous books like many authors do in a series. A bit of recap is nice but most over do it in my opinion.

The narrator has been the same throughout and I like that. Barr does great with all the voices and really brings the story to life.
