Publisher's Summary

Growing up, she rarely heard her own name. Today, she's here to help you claim the inherent worth that is yours.

Born into a large working-class family in upstate New York, Christina Meredith endured years of abuse before entering the foster-care system as a teenager. With nowhere to turn after she graduated from high school, Christina lived in her car for almost a year, working three jobs to survive.

As she prayed in her car every day, Christina had no idea that in just a few years she would be crowned Ms. California. She had no idea her suffering would one day help others find healing. But she did know she was destined for more, and she would not give up hope no matter the circumstance.

In CinderGirl, Christina tells her piercing and poignant story of leaving behind homelessness to become Ms. California and the founder of a nonprofit organization that provides advocacy for foster-care children.

With stunning vulnerability, Christina invites us into her childhood home and the heart of a child longing to be loved. She asks us to journey with her across the country and deep into a growing faith. She invites us to dig deeper into our own personal courage, even in the most grim of conditions. CinderGirl is the riveting story of one young woman’s determination to overcome hardship in order to help others know they are not alone and that they, too, can achieve anything they dream.

A very moving read!

One of the best books I have ever read! I work in child welfare and have interacted with children similar to Christina Meredith. She is such an inspiration to former foster youth, children currently in care, and to all those that work with that population. Christina Meredith is a blessing!

A Reader's Comments

The memoir of Christina Meredith is absolutely powerful and an inspiration for victims of child abuse. As I read I felt the wounds from my own childhood abuse heal, that means a lot to victims of child abuse. Please share this memoir with children in the foster care system and those that have experienced child abuse.

Amazing true story of overcoming unbelievable hardships through faith and perseverance. Very well written. This has inspired me to open up my home (through foster adoption) to older kids.

Powerful

This book is heartbreaking at times but oh SO powerful! Christina’s story is a beautiful representation of how God always has a plan for our lives and He is always with us! I’m so thankful she shared her story of redemption and I’m thankful for the kingdom work she is doing to better a system that is so very broken in a world that is so very broken! You won’t regret reading this book!

Inspired

I was watching the today show and saw Christina briefly describing her experience. I was so intrigued that I bought her book and I’m so glad that I did. It’s moving and inspiring. She not only tells her experience but has a message for all that read her book. I think it’s a great book for high schoolers. Puts things in perspective. Highly recommend reading/listening to this book!!!
