Romcom goodness

This book had all the check marks foe a hallmark romance a lot of good and a little a bad to make it better but I like it more the. Your normal romcom because there were a few laugh out loud moments I had to stifle as to not to be asked why I was laughing. A sweet girl raised by her outlandish grandma and gay best friend make for some pretty dicey moments when two out of the three seem to be sex crazed half the time. Was a super fun escape from the every day. This book is a standalone, with hints of 50 shades but I don’t think really there’s anything triggering not even the drama was done in depth. So if your looking for a funny over the top rom com then one clicking this book is a must! Narration was fabulous!

An okay listen

I wanted to love it much more than I did, but it was still an okay listen. The narration was good, as always with this narrator. It’s just that I didn’t find the right balance of heat and laugh.

The humor seemed a bit forced, one sexual situation after the other, even with some repetitions. As if Lyla’s clumsiness had to involve toys or nakedness in some level.

As for the intimacy, Amery spends the beginning of the book saying that he’ll take it slow with Lyla. But once they cross the line, they can’t keep their hands from each other, and it becomes a heat fest. I can’t really complain, but meanwhile the story didn’t progress much.

The characters were interesting though, and their relationships quite special. I especially enjoyed the side characters: the gay best friend/brother, the transvestite friend, the feisty gramma… They made for entertaining conversations. The strong friendship between Lyla and Nate was beautiful–it was a fascinating take on the chosen family trope.

If you love sexual humor, I suppose you’ll enjoy this book more than I do. If not, you can still try it, you won’t be bored.

When everything goes wrong... it's so right!!

I laughed so much while listening to this story.

When anything (more like everything) goes wrong for Lyla, he's there to witness it. She's super embarrassed, but he's just enthralled by her adorableness. From sex toys to finding grandma mid booty call, there is so much crazy happening in her life. And every time, he's there. Avery... sweet, sexy and thoroughly charmed by every crazy thing about her,

This audio was so good it broke me so many times my family was looking at my weird all weekend. I'd just start randomly cracking up and I can't explain the situation, it just needs to be experienced.

Monica King does a great job with the full narration. It was so easy to just let her voice sweep me away into this crazy tale.

I will definitely listen to this one again.

Destine to fall

This is a funny, quirky book about a sweet young lady, Lila, that is a bit on the clumsy side and yes a hot mess. She meets Amery, former baseball star now talent scout, not only once but three times and third time was the charm. He can have any woman he wants and finds it odd he wants this petite klutz and after getting to know her he finds himself falling for her and her crazy family. Lila has not had great luck with relationships and she is just trying to get her career off the ground so she is reluctant when Amery shows interest in her but thanks to her best friend Nate, and her Gran-Mil she goes for what she wants.

Monica King narrated this book and did a great job. I love listening to this narrator and enjoyed this one for sure. It's funny and full of disasters along with unexpected surprises but also has heart.

I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Clumsy fall into the love

This author and also the narrator were both unicorns to me. I immensely enjoyed the story of a clumsy Lyla and Amery the hot former baseball player.
I laughed all the time because Lyla´s clumsiness was like the title of this book says.... a mess. She just literally flew into Amery's arms and that´s the beginning of their story. Their attraction was feelable through the whole book.
When you add Lyla´s modern and very YOLO Nan-Mil and her best friend Nate into the mix, it was perfection.
I loved every single character in this book well except Kevin, but in every story, there has to be a villain otherwise there would be missing something.
I loved the narration by Monica King, she truly beautifully brought all the characters to life.

Anyway, I can only recommend this amazing audiobook to those who love to laugh out loud quite often.

Being a hot mess myself, I can relate!

I really loved this fun hot romantic comedy. The characters are so charismatic you instantly feel connected to them. I’m glad these characters show up in other books so I can keep up with how they’re doing. Great book!!

If you want a laugh...get this one!! Loved it!

Loving this story! It’s filled with hi-jinks and lots of laughs. I couldn’t put this down or shut off my audio player. There is a lot that happens in here. I laughed, chuckled and was filled with shock a couple times (that Gran-Mil!). This is going on my favorites list and will be listened to again! That Lyla is one HOT MESS!

All of these characters make this story what it is...funny. But there are a few who stand out. First let’s talk Lyla. She is clutz extraordinarie. Most of this story involves her actions or re-actions. Don’t get me wrong. They are something to laugh about. Amery is a wonderful man. Former lady killer now he is looking for that one special woman. He certainly found that in Lyla. I love how patient her is with her and how her craziness doesn’t embarrass or offend him. He just rolls with the punches. Lastly Nate! He is the BEST best friend a gal could ever have! He adds comic relief to the story but it’s his big heart and actions that really bring him to the forefront. He is a wonderful add to the story.

I easily loved this rom-Com. I did listen to it on audio. Monica King is the narrator. She did great. Easy and enjoyable to listen to. I’m not sure how she got through this one with a straight face. Are there bloopers???

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 A Heartfelt RomCom!

This fabulous story was a delight to listen to! It is my first book by S.E Rose and it will not be my last, I enjoyed her writing style, the story and characters she created are realistic and easy to relate. There are some hilarious moments, laugh out loud moments in this book guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I adored the characters, Lyla Perkins is your hot mess and what a mess she is! She is a klutz, accident prone and you can not help but fall in love with her. Her family and support system are the best, Grand Mill and best friend Nate, they are full of personality and like no other. Lyla hasn’t had any luck with her job lately so when she gets another chance he tries her best to prove herself. Amery Walsh was a professional baseball player before a career ending injury, currently he is working as a talent scout for the team. He met Lyla Perkins on a flight home, he was intrigued by her but failed to get her number. May it be luck or fate, when he goes in for a photo shoot for the team she is working for the people running the shoot. I loved how everything plays out in this book, in addition to Lyla and Amery’s great romance there are some hilarious scenes, some their own, some with Grand Mill and others with Nate. There is also plenty of drama and heartfelt moments too. S.E. Rose, thanks you for this fabulous story and all the laughs.

Monica King is a talented narrator and voice artist. She does an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own unique voice and personality. She switches character roles flawlessly and is great at landing all the humor, never missing a beat. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures and projects the characters emotions into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

trainwreck

Lyla needed to come with a hazard warning sign! Lyla and Nate made perfect friends. They were matching bookends as hot messes. This story proves there's a lid for every pot, even Lila!
This whole story was like a car crash that you can't look away from, but you keep on cringing and watching. Many moans, chuckles, and o.g moments. A good distraction. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Laugh out loud funny!!!

I really liked Lila from the start... And Nate.... well he was amazing! Their friendship was one we all wish we had! Bring the hot Amery into the mix as Lila's love interest and you have a thoroughly engaging story.

The narration was brilliant!! So easy to follow and absorbing!

This really is a “go back to” book!!
