Publisher's Summary

Holiday gifts don't always come in expected packages...especially in the town of Hope's Crossing.

No one has ever felt sorry for Genevieve Beaumont. After all, she has everything money can buy. That is, until she discovers her fiance has been two-timing her and she's left with two choices: marry the philanderer to please her controlling father or be disinherited and find a means to support herself.

Genevieve's salvation appears in the most unlikely of prospects: Dylan Caine, a sexy, wounded war vet whose life is as messy as hers. Dylan's struggling to adjust after his time in Afghanistan, and the last thing he needs is a spoiled socialite learning about the real world for the first time. True, she may have unexpected depths and beauty to match. But he knows he could never be the man she needs...and she knows he could never be the man she thinks she wants. So why are they each hoping that a Christmas miracle willl prove them both wrong?

Nice story, not so nice narration.

Nice Christmas story, exactly what I was in the mood for during the hectic holiday season. Solid enough story to keep me interested in spite of the narration that I did not enjoy. I would recommend that anyone considering this one listen to the sample first. Probably a better one to read than to listen.

Heartwarming Christmas Story

RaeAnne Thayne has been on my TBR list forever, and I'm so glad I finally gave one of her books a try. Although this can be read as a standalone, it was obviously not the first book in the series. It seemed like the heroine, Genevieve, was probably the villain, or at least a mean girl, in the previous books. Although I didn't read those earlier books, Thayne did a good redeeming her. This was an emotional book where both the hero and heroine had backstories that caused trust issues. There was a lot of character growth for both characters. It was a really nice, fulfilling Christmas story that I recommend. Emily Cauldwell did a nice job narrating. She has a soothing quality to her voice. #ChristmasRomance #RedeemedVillain #FormerBridezilla #DamagedHero

Unexpected

From how the story began the whole line and ending were unexpected and a treat to listen to.

Narration

It was hard to get past Genevieve's voice. The same narrator did the last in the series and her voice for Genivieve was the same as her voice for the 12 year old girl in the last book. It was a pretty obnoxious voice to begin with and the association with the 12 year old character was slightly disturbing.
