Beautiful story and inspirational telling

Adeline has done a beautiful job of telling her story. Great for opening the heart to understanding and compassion. Great to teens to read a compelling story about youth. #compassion, #overcoming, #tagsgiving and #sweepstakes.

Excellent book

Where does Chinese Cinderella rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best Audiable books I have purchased. My boom club really enjoyed discussing the courage this girl showed

What other book might you compare Chinese Cinderella to and why?

Not sure

What about Felice Yeh’s performance did you like?

That she never gave up trying under terribly cruel situations.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me feel stronger and realize how fortunate I am. It made cry.

Any additional comments?

A great book for an English teacher at high school level to teach from. A must read for schools not sure

must be for children

I didn't see anything to tell me this was for children, but it must be. The narration is like reading to a 3 year old and the story is nothing new.

Good story, not so good performance

The narrator left something to be desired. Her intonation was often incongruent with the subject matter. The story, however, was engaging.

Sad but really good (SPOILERS)

I can not say I enjoyed this book because of the hardships that this girl went through. I was surprised at the abuse and just lack of caring for her well being at such an early age. I listened to this book with my daughter as it was on her reading list for school. We kept looking at each other with shock. It lead to some good discussions. One thing that is good about this book is that there is a happy ending - She does survive, grows up, and does well. However, how sad her childhood was. She was always craving her father's attention and affections. I believe that when she went to the Sacred Heart School she was exposed to religion and hopefully a faith in God helped her get through some of those lonely and desolate times when she was left there during school breaks while everyone else could return to their homes. I would have liked to hear about how she coped, her growing faith in God - or if she even had that, and what did she do when she was at her lowest? What helped her the most?
Good book, I would recommend.
