Publisher's Summary

Jack Livingston has been raising his nine-year-old adopted niece, Natalie, since the accident that took her parents' lives. While he travels for work, Natalie is lovingly cared for by Laura, an Amish nanny who loves her as her own. Kelly Maines is nearing the end of her rope. Her baby was kidnapped, the apparent victim of a black market adoption ring, and for eight years, Kelly has tirelessly pursued every lead to its bitter end. Now, there's one last lead from a private investigator: Just a few miles away lives a girl who matches the profile. Could this, at long last, be her beloved child? Desperately, Kelly initiates a "chance" meeting with Jack Livingston. It goes really well. So well, in fact, that Jack asks her out. One date leads to another, and before she can come clean with her original motives, Kelly realizes Jack is falling for her - and she for him. Now how can she tell Jack why she's really here? And having gotten to know Natalie, what if she isn't her long-lost daughter, after all? This was all supposed to be so simple. But nothing in Natalie's world is simple ....

Good story... to much focus on god and prayer

This was a very intriguing story line, one not recycled like so many others. You really got to know and love these folks... much like dear friends.

For my taste there was too much focus on prayer and talking about god. Sure I know I’m in the minority with this view but if that bothers you, this may not be the book for you.

Best Book Beverly Lewis has written

Would you consider the audio edition of Child of Mine to be better than the print version?

Not only is this the best book Beverly Lewis has ever written, but it is a must LISTEN to. Christina Moore is one of my favorite narrators and she outdoes herself with this book. The voices are excellent and the inflections are perfect I find myself chuckling a lot at Natalie's big personality. This book must be listened to rather than read to fully appreciate how well written it is. This is a book that needs to be made into a movie. And I love that it is 13+ hours long. More to love. I recommend you buy it right now!

What did you like best about this story?

The humor associated with Natalie's big personality.

Have you listened to any of Christina Moore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This one is the best.

Fantastic book!!

I knew I would like this book, and I was right! I hoped that Kelly would find her daughter, but I was surprised to find out who Natalie's mother really was! (I won't spoil the surprise.)

Child of Mine

This is my second time enjoying this story. The first as a book and this time as an audio. Although the audio was drawn out. and I could not "read ahead, it was still enjoyable. The characters were well developed and the child. was endearing.

Just wonderful!

This is such a wonderful book. It is one of my favorites. This book does a fabulous job showing that families are built with love, not blood.

Great story

The only complaint I have with Beverly ‘s books is the narrator the stories are centered around someone young in most cases but the narrator is a “grandma “ just doesn’t work

Waste of Time and Money

I acquired this audio book 2 years ago and forgot I had it. I started listening to it the other day. The story started out good but went downhill. I got to chapter 23 and quit. It's pretty predictable how it will end but I simply couldn't stand to listen to this story any longer. I will be deleting it from my library.

The child is eight but the writers go between portraying her as a typical eight year old and an obnoxious adolescent. Also, Jack's sister San is ornery and not at all likable. The rest of the characters (and there are a lot to keep track of) are alright.

I like a good, clean, believable fiction story but this story is preposterous.

Amazing Story! Masterpiece!

What an incredible story. The book consists of many plot twists and and incredible sense of “God works it all out in the end” even though it’s not the way we think it should. I am blessed by this book and the lessons learned here.

A different book from Beverly Lewis

I love Beverly Lewis books! However, this one took me a while to actually get into, but I finally started to make sense of things and was totally drawn in. Not a typical Lewis book, but once all the pieces of the story came together it was a sweet ending with a twist I did not see coming.
