TYPE 1 AND 2 ARE DIFFERENT

What disappointed you about Chicken Soup for the Soul Healthy Living Series: Diabetes?

For crying out loud, if you're going to write a book about diabetes, educate yourselves. Type 1 and 2 diabetes are caused by COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. Type 2 can often be reversed with diet/weight loss. Type 1 has NO cure, and has nothing to do with diet, activity level, or how much sugar you eat. It is when the body attacks the pancreas. The opening paragraph starts by praising the reader (me) for making diet and lifestyle changes to reverse my diabetes, as if it was my fault. I was severely underweight and had an amazing diet and was a runner when I was diagnosed with TYPE 1. Again, not caused by diet and exercise! This is a fluff piece about how you can reverse type 2, and nothing to support us type 1 diabetics, who are stuck with this disease for the rest of our lives.
