Evidence-based, accessible and engaging

Many writers boast that their book offers an account “like no other”. I don’t believe that Dr. Bussard makes this claim but it would be well-founded for Chew on This. I have read MANY books on nutrition and have never encountered such an engaging and memorable way of presenting the most relevant information and insights. Dr. Bussard’s creative use of characters and vignettes really brings to life information about nutrition that could otherwise be rather dry. She has skillfully distilled the most important topics and created bite size chapters on each.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quick, up to date and easy to digest primer on nutrition from a trustworthy and credible source. In particular, it can be a valuable guide for people who want to improve their health through nutrition and feel confused by the never-ending onslaught of contradictory information and health claims presented in the media. It will also be helpful for anyone looking for a resource to help them become more fluent in explaining core concepts.

Easy and understandable message on making better choices with food

This is a great book simple to understand and written and executed with a creative storytelling approach that keeps attention, resonates, and I think is easier to remember. It’s educational and instructional without being preachy. The core message is making better choices supported by the information and science described on multiple key topics that often times is asked about foods related to protein, meat, dairy, vitamins, probiotics, iron, fiber, calcium, etc. The author also mixed in throughout during the storytelling , recipe ideas and concepts that help to give a vision of what meals can look like and showed that meals would not be limited while making better choices. It did leave a call to action for me to be more conscious of what I eat and that the choices I make can have significant impact on my health. Highly recommended read for everyone.
