A young woman Doctor Polly notices an advertisement for an opening in a practice in Fort Smith Arkansas. Her own practice is booming, so there is no need to move, but there is just something about that advertisement that pulls her. She decides to write to them and ask a few questions to find out more about it.
Most patients if they cannot pay with cash will pay with chickens or other items. She would never turn anyone away who could not pay. After making breakfast one morning for her brother, she sat down and waited for him. He must have been extra tried to sleep this late, but breakfast was now cold. She went up and checked on him. She walked in and knew with a glace that he was already gone. She felt for his pulse and there was none. There was no one left for her now since their father had passed away a few months earlier. Her brother was her last living relative.
She had received a letter back from Arkansas but had not had a chance to look at it. She read it and it sounded perfect, just what she needed. She sent a telegram accepting the position and sold anything of value that was not precious to her to get enough funds for the train, with little to spare. Everything else that she did not need she gave away the rest to those in need.
The next morning, she packed the last few things in her carpet bag with one last look around and was on her way to a new life as she boarded the train that will take her to Arkansas.
Her exciting new life starts on the train when it gets robbed. She helps those with wounds and ends up meeting a couple that owns a ranch in Fort Smith. She becomes friends with Josephine along with her husband who is her patient, Chester Matterson. They offer her a place to stay. It turns out the Matterson’s are related to Judge Parker. When the train stops suddenly, she falls into the arms of a handsome stranger with mesmerizing steel-blue eyes. What will happen next?
This adventure leads her to a whole new life as she starts all over with her new practice. She meets many challenges head on with determined ferocity, life, and the possibility of more.
Dreams she dared to dream about, but never told anyone, because the odds of them coming true are slim to none? Are her dreams fulfilled? Does she find love and a husband who fulfills her dreams?
