A Must Listen for True Crime Fans

If you like true crime, especially in the form of investigative journalism, this audiobook is for you! I was initially drawn to this story because of Billy’s association with Michelle McNamarra in her amazing I’ll Be Gone in the Dark book from 2018. Billy worked closely with Michelle on the Golden State Killer case and after her death he was instrumental in helping to finish and get her book published.

In his new audiobook, Billy tells of how he developed a love of true crime and justice from an early age. he describes some pretty crazy bedtime stories of crimes and criminals that his dad used to share with him. Rather than scaring him, Billy pinpoints those early stories as instilling a fascination and hunger within himself to explore crime and those who commit it

Believe me when I say this is one of the most engaging, insightful audiobooks I’ve ever listened to! Billy goes in depth in how he uses crowdsourcing…think Facebook and Twitter…to catch criminals and it’s absolutely fascinating. The murder of Marcus Gaines that Billy worked on was not only sad and frustrating to hear but incredible in terms of how it turned out. This crowdsourcing feels to me very timely and tremendously important in terms of the possibilites it offers for solving more murders and finding more missing people. In fact, Billy’s discussion of the“digital posse” seemed so accurate for the future of crime and criminal justice.

Told with empathy, compassion and energy, Billy’s dedication and passion for truth and justice came through loud and clear. I highly recommend this audiobook!!

It doesn't get much better than this. Billy's a fantastic storyteller and an inspiration. I love the stories of his father and family interspersed with solving crimes and how to be an effective and respectful citizen sleuth. A touching and fascinating book!

Billy Jensen is an absolute gem!

I could listen to Billy tell stories for days. His voice is excellent, and I love when authors narrate their own titles. The writing is excellent, and so interesting.

Good listen, I would suggest you listen to Evil has a name first then come back to this one.

Incredible detective work!

Billy gets incredibly in-depth with this book. Details exactly what he did for the positive outcomes of his cases. He didn’t just focus on the “wins”. Told us about the fails too. Captivated the listener with the step by step-we wanted a solve too.
Recommended for anyone with a passion and obsession for true crime.

It's a binge listen for sure

Really recommend this if you're a murderino, love Michelle McNamara, or just love true crime and know a little bit about Billy. It's very interesting and well written and so hard to stop! Cant wait for Billy Jensens next book!

Great book!

I’ve been binge listening to this book, it has made me happy and has made me cry. The writing is great and I love that Billy Jensen did the narrating himself. I’ll definitely suggest this book to all of my true crime loving friends.

For Murderinos!

Billy Jensen’s book is so compelling, you’ll want to drop everything and start hunting for murderers. I started to buy the print book. I’m so glad I chose the audiobook instead. I loved hearing it in Jensen’s own voice. Definitely a must “read” for anyone who is a fan of podcasts like My Favorite Murder or true crime in general.
