Publisher's summary

I can't even imagine what I'd do with a man like him. He wants no part of a girl like me. So how come he can't stay away, and I can't stop thinking what if?

Kayla: Life isn't easy. Single mom, minimum wage, family drama. You know the story. I've come a long way in a short time, though, and it's all worth it. For Jimmy. My grumpy little guy.

Then a hot biker charms his way into our lives, tempting me into wanting more. I want to go for it, but how can I trust myself when I've screwed up so badly in the past?

Charge: I'm an easy kind of guy in a rough world. Yeah, I got a record, but I also got my club, my ride, and the open road. Life is good.

I don't need no hassle, and from recent experience, "woman" is the very definition. I sure don't need to be messin' with a girl young enough to get carded, cartin' along a six-year-old.

So why is she livin' all up in my head? And how am I gonna stop my past from screwin' up this good thing?

Contains mature themes.

Decent MC read

I was in the mood for a new MC story and found this book. This was a fairly quick listen. The story was a bit underdeveloped, but the characters were likable. I’m not sure I’ll move into the next book in the series quite yet, but I’ll keep that option open.

The narration of the story was smooth and I felt the voices matched the characters portrayed very well.

Falling for the young, single mom

Kayla has had a rough life but she will do anything to keep her son, including put up with her mentally abusive father and stepmother. When she meets Charge, she has mixed feelings...she is attracted to him but she is afraid of the consequences of getting involved with a biker, and an older guy. Kayla is 21 to Charge’s 31...she was a teen mom at 15. The story surrounding her pregnancy is heartbreaking, including the way that her father and stepmother treated her. In spite of his misgivings about getting involved with the young Kayla, Charge can’t help himself. Can anything come of this relationship when Kayla’s youth and inexperience keeps getting in the way?

Good Story

Very good story. The only little bit that I didn't particularly enjoy was Kayla's sexual inexperience. That sort of ruined it for me.

Otherwise, I enjoyed Charge and Kayla's story. Harper was a nice twist, though there was a question I had which may be answered in later books, but Harper says something about "Didn't Heavy tell you.." but they never go back to it...

But overall, great read.

Good Start

to the series, I did enjoy the story and the whole premise but I do feel like we needed a little more to the back story with the parents. the narration was ok though the Macie's male voice could use a little help. overall it was an enjoyable listen.

bikers 101

I really enjoyed this depiction of bikers life. you stayed pretty true to how I remember it was back in the day . good job on most of the details and Charge sounds real charismatic too. Anyhow, I really enjoyed this book and the narrators did it justice. Tor Thom could make a woman cut just by the sound of his voice. oh my ., just sayin.

Excellent storyline

The story and the narrators were very good. This is the first time I’ve read anything by Ms. Wells. The story truly pulled me in. I felt everything the characters felt. Can’t wait to continue this series.

Loved this

This book was so good. I loved Jimmy, he was adorable. I k ow Charge was laid back, he was a different kind of MC, but the way he let Harper speak to him was maddening.

I hated Harper, she was a "witch" to the millionth degree. She made a Harper-esk apology and did a good thing but she was freaking awful. The parents were even worse. But their love made it worth it. She had been broken for a long time and everyone needs a best friend like Sue ( I read this book several hours ago, I think that's the bf's name.)

Tor is fabulous as always, I like Jillian's voice for the female just fine, but her male narration made Charge sound undesirable.
