I enjoyed how the story would flip from the author’s life to the first chapt of each book.

Excellent story, pieced together nicely. You’ll figure out the “mystery” early on but it does not diminish the enjoyment of the story.

Kept me guessing

I appreciated the twists and turns in this story. It kept me guessing throughout the book who the killer was, and while I was eventually able to figure out who the killer was, the circumstances were a great twist. The end started to drag on for a bit, otherwise this would have been 5 stars.

Very much worth your time

This author simply cannot pump the books out fast enough for me. I actually woke up in the middle of the night for more listening. The narration was excellent, and I felt the production value was very high. Kudos!

good story great narration

The narrator brings the story to life. He really pulls you in and keeps you listening. I would have finished this in a day if I was able to. I don't leave a lot of reviews but I noticed there wasn't very many reviews at the time of writing this and I felt it deserves at least one more.

Better than expected

I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. Part of thought it would not live up to his DCI books. But I thoroughly enjoyed it.

An awesome thank you to Michael Wood for this compelling and complexellent listen! Both narrators, Lucy Paterson and Stephen Hogan, bring these bizarre and complicated characters to vivid life. I tried to take breaks, however, i was hooked and I immediately went back to listening. I’ve been on a winning streak with Audible Plus catalogue and this one rises to the top! Wood has always been a preferred author; I’ve accumulated a vast collection of his books, including his Matilda Darke series. Highly recommended and worth a cherished credit. I can’t stress the audiction of this book enough. The unexpected ending stunned me; it was a shocker that Wood wrapped up with a psychological bow! I never saw hat coming! Please grab “Chapter One” now. … a must-listen! I’m up on my rooftop again, screaming, “Epic, I say! EPIC! EPIC! EPIC!”

The narration was good. When you think you know who the killer is there's a change that makes you rethink.

Well written

This book was very enjoyable. Not too dark and still engaging. I’d recommend it. I also enjoyed the readers.

Great gotcha

Mystery, intrigue and winding tale. Descriptive in setting the scene and relationships. Surprised at the end!
