Publisher's summary

Sinful, Louisiana, is always a hotbed of activity, and despite the steamy heat, August is no exception. Godzilla is terrorizing the town, looking for a home-cooked meal, and Gertie is worried someone will take the gator out before she can get him under control. Francine has a situation of her own at the café, where food is missing from inventory. And Celia is always up to no good.

But summer is almost over, which could mean huge changes for Fortune Redding. Her undercover time in Sinful has always been limited to three months, and that time is almost up. With Ahmad still on the loose, Fortune is forced to remain in hiding, but soon she'll have to move to another town and start all over with a new identity. And that's the last thing she wants to do. Determined to get her life back, Fortune decides to draw Ahmad out and end this once and for all. Can Fortune take down one of the most dangerous men in the world? And if she can, does she have a future in Sinful?

I love this series! Please continue with more!

I have enjoyed every book of the Fortune series. Fun to listen to! Nothing offensive in language, sex or situations.
Cassandra Campbell is the perfect narrator for these books.

Great book!

A good escape. Keeps you wanting to turn pages. The only slightly negative I have is that I have lived in the South all my life and part of the time in South Louisiana and I have never heard anyone pronounce Fortune like the narrator. It is not pronounced like a hyphenated word "For-tune", it is more like " for- chun" . And Hebert is Long A-- "A- bear". I got over it and still enjoyed the book and performance. BUT a phone call or trip to NOLA to research the pronunciation would make the listening more enjoyable.

Where are the real Louisiana people?

I really like these books, especially the fun and friendship the ladies have. But what I can’t understand is where are the African-American people? If you’re talking about real Louisiana, half the population is African-American. Do none of them live in St. Paul? Is it segregated? I’m not getting it too well. That really needs to be fixed.

I LOVE Jana DeLeon's Miss Fortune mystery series!!

CHANGE OF FORTUNE is Book 11 in the light and fun Miss Fortune Mysteries series by Jana DeLeon. DeLeon is a genius at story telling and character development. Fortune Redding, the protagonist, is a CIA execution agent who is placed anonymously in the small town of Sinful, Louisiana after an arms dealer places a $1 million price on her head. There she meets two senior citizens named Ida Belle and Gertie who were US espionage agents in Vietnam during the war there. Fortune also finds a love interest in Sinful in the person of Sheriffs Deputy Carter LeBlanc who was a US Marine Recon officer earlier in his life. The novels are real suspense mysteries with more than a touch of outrageous humor. Cassandra Campbell's narration is perfect.

Really fun series

Do start at the beginning. Once you accept the opening premise, the whole series is a fun romp.

love the story the narrator needs a lesson

this is one of my favorite books in this series however the woman doing the performance needs what she has needed for every book in the series, A PRONUNCIATION GUIDE!

Change of Fortune

As all of Jana's books this one does not disappoint. I love the Shetland humor that she writes with. Another best seller I. My opinion.

Great as usual, but gotta get the names right

Really enjoyed the story as usual but as a Louisiana native I cringed every time the name Hebert was mispronounced!

Great Series, Hard To Listen To

Have read all of the books in this series and wanted to see if I liked listening to it on Audible before buying the upcoming book in the series. Although I loved having the story read to me, it was very hard to listen to as the Southern Louisiana accents and male voices were horrible as well as the Italian gangster impersonation for the French surnamed Mafia characters, not to mention the incorrect pronunciation of their name Hebert as He-Burt instead of A-Bear. Will be reading instead of listening to the next book. Surely it's okay if you aren't from the region; otherwise, you would probably cringe every time, just as I had, when the garish Southern accent or mispronunciation of Hebert occurred.

Good Story

Having read about Fortune and the folks from Sinful for years, I was excited to read about Fortune confronting the man she was hiding out from in Sinful. The story was great, although with a few eye rolling moments, but I would like to point out something to Ms Campbell, who read the story for Audible. In South Louisiana, the name "Hebert" is pronounced "A - bear" not "He - bert." Sorry to complain, but it was like nails on a chalkboard each time you said it. Otherwise , it was a great story, and I am anxious to hear Fortune's next steps.
