A 17 hour commercial for Aman Clinics

I gave up on this book half way through. While many of the anecdotes about brain function and human psychology were entertaining, this book is, at its core, a shameless plug for Aman Clinics. Save your time and money.

Repetitive - starts out much like an infomercial.

What did you love best about Change Your Brain, Change Your Life (Revised and Expanded)?

The first few chapters the author plugs his company constantly. At first I was good with that since it was his book - but then it became annoying. Other than that, there was a lot of information to take in.. I found myself wading through all sorts of issues trying to find some thing similar to what I was experiencing. Sadly, the scenario that fit my issue took a mere 1-2 minute to cover and very little information was actually provided. In the end, I thought this audiobook simply gave the reader/listener just enough to to keep them curious rather than providing useful information. I'm guessing those who needed to know more will have to seek out Amen's office - which is exactly what this book was intended to do. Worth a read but overall it was very mediocre.

Infomercial

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

More content, less advertising. I felt like I was listening to a late night TV infomercial

A bit of a replay from Healing ADD

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably, but definitely Healing ADD

If you’ve listened to books by Daniel G. Amen before, how does this one compare?

On par

Any additional comments?

I listened to Healing ADD immediately before this, so was a bit of repeat. I have since taken my son to his clinic recently - so I'm obviously a believer

I kept listening, waiting for more...

... but not in the good way.
I've been listening to self help books a lot, and honestly, this didn't feel like one.
Dr. Amen gives many accounts throughout the book of how he's helped patients using SPECT scanning, which apparently is controversial to begin with. He also tells of what treatments he gives his patients of various mental and life issues.

However, in the end it just feels like he's trying to sell you something. He even prompts you to take an online quiz to tell you your brain type, which in turn can be used to buy supplements for said brain type on his website.

I've gotten more insight from the first ten minutes of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People than I did within the first ten chapters of this book.

Another note: The man says the specific, presumably trademarked phrase, "Change Your Brain Change Your Life" so many times, you could make a drinking game of it.

Interesting

It's an interesting audio book.,but not so convinced by the content.

Unfortunately the author who is also the performer of the book is terribly monotone and very boring.

Id rather get the book and miss he listen.

Much longer than it should be.

Too much anecdotal evidence, has quite good health advices in general. Too much stories, although I enjoyed some of them :) as they gave me new perspectives.

Unimpressive

Full of a bunch of super obvious things about healthy living. This guy does not have the respect of his medical peers.
