Interesting

Good narrators. Story is filled with a lot of bombs. Unfortunately it made it slow and predictable. It's a book I enjoyed enough to listen until the end.

Good Story

Some stories are too wordy, some need more. This one could have used more. More storyline. a few times I got lost because it went from one place to another without letting the listener know what was going on. but it was not unnecessarily wordy and it was a good story

interesting from the start

The story got my interest from the start. Could see the scene in my mind, good setting discrimination. Would like to read more.

Betrayal

Second chance romance is my jam so I've been waiting for the "conversation" before deciding who Jake is and if he can be trusted. Sadly, NO. Marriage is not a bargaining chip to be called in because somebody "owes you one" and it's not a bucket list item, it's HOLY MATRIMONY BEFORE GOD, A COVENANT, and this man is supposedly a Christian. I like the faith aspect but only if the characters walk it out. Yes, I know Christians are not perfect, but this wasn't a mistake it was a decision. One he still stands begind years later. He does not see his defection as a mistake but something noble. Hero complex? Get counseling? The fact he still wears her ring around his neck a decade later tells me it was more to him than what he is communicating. "MAYBE it was cowardly to not call her." ?? Most definitely a coward and not demonstrating Godly manhood. He CHOSE to give a FRIEND 4 months of loveless marriage that destroyed his future and the woman's he SUPPOSEDLY loved. His ACTIONS prove the opposite. If he had loved her, no way would he allow her to to continue to hurt, unable to move on, for a DECADE, ESPECIALLY, after his "wife" died. Was he intimate with her while being in love with someone else? This is making me cringe. Obviously extremely disappointed in this author, Jake, and now Raven for allowing him back in immediately after he reveals all this. Forgiveness and forgetting are NOT the same thing. Forgive but remember who he is, a man who will choose a life commitment to a friend, leaving you hurt and abandoned for 10 years. This is NOT a man I would ever trust again. Does he ever imagine what would have happened if Danielle had been healed? He would have been stuck in that situation for lifetime with no way back to Raven, which he was obviously ok with based again, on his actions in not attempting to reconcile. Are we really supposed to believe someone who loves Jake, Danielle and her father, would want want him to ruin his life and that of the woman he loved ? Yes, it would be sad to die without ever having the chance to be married but I would never want it under these conditions. If a man already loved me and wanted to marry me before I died, sure, but no way would I be selfish enough to disrupt the lives of 2 people to fulfill a bucket list item, nor would I want to be married to a man who doesn't love me. This is wrong and frankly gross. It's a shame because I loved the action and suspense of the novel and I usually love this author. This is a miss for me. DNF.

Awful prose

Just the most straight forward and boring narrative voice. Nobody here has heard about "show, don't tell". They're not even telling it well. Shame, cause it could have had potential. Narrators are great - I just wish they'd have something better to work with
