Publisher's summary

Any reasonably exciting scientific endeavor entails some level of risk, how else do we explain so many research laboratories mysteriously exploding, or just completely disappearing, leaving gaping holes in the ground that will eventually become a rather nice pond for racing small model boats on sunny days. And while we are at it, what is the relationship between soaring airships and instantaneously vanishing laboratories? Thin air mate! Unusually suspicious minds might suspect that that our Professor, aka Professor Bajusz (mustache) to his increasingly shrinking circle of friends, is the coincidental connecting factor and it would be challenging to prove them wrong. Let’s not forget Dr. Minneapolis St. Paul who was last seen in Interstitial Space (IS) and often enough thrives in the pursuit of evil. Her efforts to convert the Universal Constants into stochastic variables comes to mind with little effort. And then there is that little buff-colored cat named Cerberus who has developed a love of Gulyas Leves (Goulash). A note to our gentle and health-conscious readers; some characters in this story such as the Professor other characters do in fact often engage in and enjoy smoking pipes or cigars and this is not meant to be a glamorization or promotion of that vile behavior among the general public in any way. No seriously, Ms Ttemperance who is puffing on her classic Peterson pipe while auditing the financial accounts at Wolfram Sonderwerks, please stop giggling. On second thought, it is ok if some of you feel the need to smirk. Everyone appreciates a proper smirk. There is some possibility that this story follows closely on the heels of The Revenge of Dr. Minneapolis St. Paul since several, perhaps many, of the characters appear in both stories. Astute observers will notice characters who have soldiered on since The Dirigible Pirates. Quite probably some of them are participants in various witness protection schemes while others simply are victims of their own boredom. As will quickly become apparent to even the casual reader, this and the other earlier work are both largely autobiographical. Of course more than twenty years have passed since that earlier chronicle of events and it is equally possible that some of them have forgotten who they were when they were young and filled with a sense of limitless possibility and adventure. Yes, peace, love, and rock and roll can save the world. Or as it turns out, maybe not. Professor Stanwell P. Briar DdU, DdP, Ex libris
