Caught in the Act

“It’s not what you think,” Iona said a deep blush working its way up her dark skin making her cheeks burn.

“Oh?” Lawson asked his eyebrows raised.

Lawson didn’t even have the decency to look shocked. Instead, he looked smug and satisfied. He looked like the cat that ate the canary.

He looked almost hungry…Ravenous. He was the wolf in the woods, and she was Little Red with her basket full of goodies.

“No, it’s not,” Iona said trying to think of a good excuse…any excuse.

“Then, what exactly is it,” Lawson said raising one eyebrow.

She was caught in the most compromising way…

Iona Pruitt was beyond embarrassed…

She was beyond shame…

She was mortified…

She had never been caught before! And, to think that it was Lawson Pettigrew of all people who had caught her.

Iona Pruitt had had to claw her way to the top. And, she couldn’t afford to lose it all simply because an egotistical snob like Lawson Pettigrew had walked in on her. She would do whatever he wanted to keep his mouth shut!

I hated the narration

The story was good but the narration was horrible. I will look for other things from the author with a regular narrator.
