A little bit too much tough girl

I like this series, but this book is my least Favorite. There was a little bit too much chip on brees shoulder and this book seemed a little too close to a Sherlock Holmes novel with all kinds it big reveals that I couldn't follow

Waste of time. Storyline needs to end!

13 Hours of listening to basically: I snickered, I chortled, I snorted or he did the same. A lot of slapstick back and forth zings between Bree, Nathan, Bucky and whoever she came into contact with.

The author has made Bree have to be in defensive mode to any extent she comes in contact with and not a likeable character.

This storyline of going to Europe didn’t go anywhere up until the last few minutes of the book due to the over emphasizing on the character arguments and Bree being selfishly out into defensive mode thru the book. We know her and Bucky detest one another, but really all these playground arguments? I thought Bree was better than that.

The Narrator has always done such an awesome job with the characters I just feel bad if she is under contract for an 8th book for the SOS from this book.

Worth the wait and another great book.

Would you listen to Catharsis again? Why?

Yes, I plan on revisiting each book to remind me of Bree’s adventure.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Catharsis?

Bree putting together Bucky Hamilton’s role in her journey to this point in her life and how things might have been different. Although I was hoping this was the last book in the series, there seems to be more.

Which character – as performed by Tess Irondale – was your favorite?

Bree of course, she is the story and her journey of discovery and willpower to survive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The surgery was a bit much for me. Thankfully a previous reviewer forewarned me and I was prepared to zone out during that very disturbing description.

Any additional comments?

I found Adrienne Lecter and the first book in this series “Incubation Green Fields #1” by a recommendation and was not disappointed. Although zombies play a very prominent part of this series, it was the development of Bree and Nate’s relationship that kept me hooked. Their relationship is not perfect, sometimes I want her to leave him, but that’s exactly what keeps me coming back.

some language is annoying

I'm enjoying the series overall, although it's not normally a take on the end of the world that is told (a soldier super serum?! all dictated by one ghost of a man?)

But some of the language is really getting under my skin....
Examples: if I hear the word "mirth" one more time I might scream-- get a thesaurus!! Or gnashing of teeth. Or a muscle jumping in someone's cheek. or the 4,782 ways used to describes Nate's smiles. Several phrase get used so many time that it begins to lose any effectiveness and it makes me think of the writer as not very creative in their vocabulary.
Last example...Bree saying phrase like a teenage valley girl, not the brilliant scientist she allegedly is: "I Sooo didn't like this!" "This is bad. This is soooo bad." coupled with her character going from being a semi-meek 'lab rat' into the world's most sarcastic smart ass at all times with zero self control. Just compare to a typical scientist and it doesn't fit.
I will finish out the series but had to add my two cents.

Wonderfully crafted series

I can’t wait to see what we are going to find out next. Every time you think you know it all something new is revealed giving you a different view on everything without changing your feelings for your main characters. You learn when they learn and their discoveries effect them and their view points as much as yours. Great storytelling with characters that are complex, interesting but not always who or what you what them to be.
